I recently found an old netbook in the attic that I bought in 2011 and never used.
Now I upgraded it to windows 10 and it's pretty nice, but it only works on a charger.
I couldn't find the original charger and bought one on Amazon that was compatible, but while it powers the netbook, the battery isn't charging.
The charger's point into the netbook seems to remain about 1mm away from the side of the machine and doesn't actually go in all the way, but I don't know if that would be a problem.
I'd rather not buy another battery if it is an incorrect charger, but how can I tell?
What might cause a charger to power a machine but not charge the battery?
Could a slightly incorrect input plug cause that?
The netbook is an Asus EeePC 1015PEM. Thanks for any advice.

You would want to check the voltage/wattage of the adapter to whats printed on the laptop, but if I had to take a guess, Battery is just shot since its been shelved and 5 years old
