Hello. I was in the market for a laptop and so did my own research and eventually decided upon the Asus A8JS. It came yesterday and so far I have to say that I am extremely pleased with it. The only thing that I'm not really pleased with is that I got an AUO screen, instead of the better CMO screen. I got the newer version that comes with Vista Home Premium, and am finding Vista to be nice as well.
Now, something strange has come up, though. When I first got the laptop I decided to reformat it. After the reformat, I found something odd with my Windows Experience Index score...
Processor: 4.9
Memory: 4.5
Graphics: 4.9
Gaming Graphics: 1.0
Primary Hard Disk: 4.7
Now, before the reinstall I had gotten around 4.8 in the Gaming Graphics category, yet now for some reason I am getting a 1! Yes, I've installed the latest drivers from Laptop Video 2 Go with the modified INF file, so it's not a driver issue (to add, I was getting this 1 on the stock driver as well). To make it weirder, I installed Oblivion and while I have not had time to play past the very first area yet (I accidentally deleted all my old saves) on medium settings it was very smooth, smoother than my old desktop even (not like my old desktop was much to speak about). Now, since it seems this odd score is not affecting my performance, it is not much of a priority for me to fix it, although I am a bit worried about it. I have been thinking that another reinstall might fix it, however I don't want to reinstall again just yet.
Now, for my second question, I do not like the recovery disk that comes with the laptop (especially with how you can't seem to bypass the step where you must insert the driver CD with all the bloatware on it) and am wondering if it is possible to use the OEM serial code with the laptop on a retail Vista Home Premium installation. I can get a friend to burn a copy of the retail DVD for me, however I do not know if it will accept my OEM serial code (or even need it at all). If I can use this serial code on a retail installation, then I may just go ahead and reinstall that way.
Thanks in advance for any answers that you can provide.

You've probably done this, but did you click "Update my Score" after installing the drivers?
New A8JS and some questions...
