Given that the quad-core is clocked at an underwhelming 2.0 GHz, its presently on the brink of being too slow for unoptimized applications and will likely be too slow by the time quad core optimized applications become common.

The wow factor of a "Quad," with very little real world performance.

Sadly I think this feature is gone on all G51 models

The "underwhelming" Q9000 2.0 GHz Is actually better than people realize.
Real world performance might surprise you when it comes to gaming.
    Look here:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=387976
I thought the same thing too "Q9000 2.0 Ghz is too slow" but this thread shows it can handle most of todays games very well.
I know it's not the exact same but it was the closest one I can find with similar specs.
I say the Q9000 is a pretty good CPU.
@ Thanks LaptopNut for all the hard work

Do you know if its gona be in the G60 :) ? If not, I thought, if its the same chassis, its likely thats its the same motherboard, so would it be possible to take an OLED from a G50 and connect it to the G51 (+any soft that came with it)?

    Not sure.But highly unlikely.
You really wan't that OLED feature bad!
Even if it was possible cutting a hole in the laptop to put in the OLED will void the warranty.

You are right I want that damm OLED :D, I've seen how people programmed it, I just like to see current temps, % usage etc.
In regards to the warranty, its only 1 year anyway, so after that time, I will do some hardware changes anyway.

If only I hear that it would be possible to connect the OLED, I'm buying it straight away, and thinking of a way how to implement it into the chassis..

The motherboard does not have an OLED connector

You can pretty much forget about swapping any single part between both models without further modifications. The video card is the simplest and even it requires bios modifications. Screens will require a bit of work as well, keyboard swap is pure fail and there is no place for the oled much less a way to connect it.

    Wait what?

just visited the link on the first post for the g51vx-a1 and it showed an image of the back of a g50vt-x1

So i was just wondering if the g51vx-a1 has the awesome blue and black lighting back or the ugly(In my opinion) white and black back.

Last i checked the lights are the same, colors varied between best buy and reseller models doesnt mean anything towards what the new color is.

GenTech and the other resellers do not have their laptops yet, they have to substitute pictures as the only ones they have are the ones ASUS has sent. They could have just not shown a picture and then had people emailing them asking what the lights look like.

EDIT - I think I see what you mean looking back at gentechs site. Well dont think they would have posted the X1/VX5's back if that was horribly innacurate but as far as i know the lights are the same anyways.

Xotic has NOT shown the back of the PC, their site has a video of the OLD G70 in white as well as a picture of the G71.

I have asked a retailer more than once about the color of the G51Vx-A1( retail) and was told the Black and Blue lid pattern is a retail exclusive and the WHITE is only for BB.
If you think about it that's standard procedure for them as they always had 2 different looking models.
The thing that surprised me is that the new G51Vx-A1 looks exactly like the first BB model the G50Vt-X1.
Not sure if they had a mix up on the images or something
first one is a image of the BB G50V-X1
    second is the G51Vx-A1
Yes it is strange that they look like twins .
To tell you the truth I think the Black version is nicer looking than the White.

Pssst The G50V-X5 also used that lid before the VT-X1 though i dont believe best buy carried it. The G50Vm-X1 was best buys actual first G50.

How is it strange? They used the same lid on the G51 as the other two that used it. The G51 is compatible with G50 lids. It is a little bit of a suprise that they went to this lid for the reseller model though.

Strange in the way they recycled a old style.
    Not that I'm complaining!
Out of all the color combinations that ever appeared on the G50/G51 line, personally I always liked Black and Blue pattern best.
I'm just glad they didn't use the old lightning bolt pattern on the G50Vt-X5, now that was something else. It's one of those you either love it or hate it things.

Yeah well they did say they were going for the scifi look lol. The White design doesnt look like scifi really. Its about a peal away from having nothing if it wasnt for the fact that its part of the plastic.

Im kinda a fan of the Orange and black of old, and Black laptops with nearly plain white lids arent my style. Its a shame they havent come up with something fresh but atleast they wont all look the same either.

Wow, so it will hopefully come with the blue and black back then?

the white back was really not working for me so if it comes with the blue and black theme I'll be ecstatic :D

Same here the white would just look dirty in a few months. The blue and black does look better.
