Asus updated their EeePC website over the weekend. For a short time that model was listed. I'm not sure where it's gone to now, but someone was mucking around with the 12 inch EeePC models. I recently bought the 1201N and am glad I didn't wait for the 1201PN. The N450 is only a single-core CPU. :(

Oh goodie, a new 1201PN with Nvidia Hybrid Graphics 2.0 Optimus. It looks like Intel wants Nvidia out of the netbook arena with it's new CPU/GPU.

Yeah, I've been reading about Intel's anti-competitive tactics against Nvidia. I don't really like Intel's vision for what a netbook should be. I'm much more fond of Nvidia's. I think Nvidia wants to evolve the state of small portable computers while Intel wants to support the status quo. It's very disappointing.

As long as battery life is longer, this 1201PN should be very popular with the masses.

The GPU is about 25% faster...(Well, in fact is at least 50% faster, but...)
The CPU is a huge step-back. Single-core, and in fact isn't really faster than the old N280.

The best would be refreshing the 1201n with optimus -> long battery life with decent performance.
But I think Intel won't let it :(

1201PN to include dual core models, and Optimus later in 2010.

N500 and Optimus model also might be coming.

No Optimus means that the NVIDIA card will always on? Because then the battery life will be really bad. Or just the user have to switch manually?

The N500 version of the 1201PN will be called the 1215N. It will have the N500, "next gen" Ion and probably Optimus. It is expected to launch at Computex this June.

Battery life should be way up as the N500 is supposto operate on 40% less power. How powerful is the N500 dual core Atom? How does it compare to a Duo2Core CULV like the SU2300 or the SU7300? Looks like a winning combination.

    Bronsky
