Anyone have any ideas concerning ASUS F6 or the N81 becoming available with DDR3 RAM and/or F6 with SSD in the future?

Well you technically you CAN get these notebooks with SSD. Alot of the Asus online sites lets you customize it to include an SSD. As for DDR3, we will have to wait and see though im sure in the not so distant future most notebooks will have it.

Until DDR3 shows clear evidence that it performs better than DDR2, most manufactures will still opt for DDR2 ram sockets on their notebook motherboards.

SSDs are still fairly expensive, and since Asus has taken the "mainstream" route, it's unlikely they will ship notebooks with SSD in the near future. However, as Red Dragon mentioned, many Asus resellers offer the option to upgrade the hard drive with an SSD.
