    Hello

I just bought a new Asus F8 Series notebook and am seeing some terrible performance with it hanging for 30 seconds at a time while running TF2.

    Specs for the laptop:

Operating System Windows Vista Home Premium
CPU Type Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 2.53G
    Memory Size 4GB DDR2
    Hard Disk 320GB (5400 rpm)
Graphics Card ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650
    Video Memory 1024MB

    Problem Description

The laptop is brand new with nothing installed at the moment. This error occurs when playing TF2 and seems kind of strange in that I can get decent FPS (30-40) leading upto the hang. The hangs seem to last for around 30 seconds with the audio looping and the screen unchanging. After the hang the game will continue to run as normal and then hang again. The hangs are not equally spaced in time.

There is a possibility that this may be linked to the audio, since I have noticed the heavy yelling has resulted in this as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated, there is nothing worse than buying a new computer and having a problem with it running your favorite game.

Thank you for the response. I checked with the asus live update and it says all drivers should be upto date. It was my understanding that asus provided the manufacturer provides support for the notebook drivers not ati.

ah....no, they'll give you some stock drivers to start with, but everyone on the planet goes to laptopvideo2go.com for updated Nvidia drivers and Driverheaven.net for ATI laptop drivers. Asus doesn't mod new drivers...look under C90s on the Asus site...you see the original drivers dated 5.28/07 or whatever. Asus update is trash, I'd delete it :D PS TF2 should be able to run in 4 instances on that notebook....go to the individual manufacturer device sites to get updated drivers. Get the BIOS updates or maybe Asus utilites from the Asus site.
