I have a new Asus G1S running MS Vista Home that is only a week old. It worked fine until today. Suddenly today, the keyboard became confused just as I was starting up MS Flight Simulator X for the first time. Specifically, now when I hit certain keys, they are mapped to different keys. for example, below I type the ABC's:

    abcdefgh51230n6-qrst4vwxyz

As you can see, the I-U keys are messed up. I tried rebooting and the problem isn't fixed. Right now, I have connected an external keyboard which works ok, so I'm able to type this message.

How can I reset the keyboard / keyboard controller in Vista on the G1S?

I am suspicious that MS Flight Simulator X has done something, but it is strange that shutting down and restarting Vista doesn't fix it.

    Thanks!

Odd.. I once had an issue with pressing CNTRL in game and the g1s would switch to the Chinese keyboard...but for some reason now its fine? Maybe try disabling the language options?

thanks so much! that solved it!

I guess I should have paid attention that they built a number pad into the QWERTY part of the keyboard by overlaying it. Also, I'm surprised that the numlock in Vista isn't reset by reboots.

:) I think the NumLock remembers its state using the BIOS.

I had this problem once, I thought I have forgotten my password. I typed it for about 6 or 7 times until I realized that LED is on.

    It happens. :)
