This is my first ASUS ever and the hard drive makes more noise than my 10 year old Dell. Is there anything I can do? Will this decrease after some usage? I don't play games, no heavy programs running. No noise was one of my buying criteria - disappointed. Any help appreciated. Thank you.

Noise levels shouldn't be too much different as Asus nor Dell make their own hard drives. What kind of noise are you hearing. Are they clicks or more of the snipping sound. Clicks could indicate a bad hard drive. If its too bad then I would consider exchanging the laptop if you're within your return period.
