Bought this laptop earlier tonight, and so far have been unable to get it to connect to my wireless router. It will work if I plug it directly into the router, and it can see a signal from the router but everytime I try to connect it experiences a problem, and sometimes says something about dns issues.

I have a HP that connects fine, however I have never used vista so don't know if it is a laptop issue or a vista issue. I am trying to connect to a lynksys router, anyone know of something I could try? We tried it on a couple of unsecured networks at my moms and it wouldn't get on there either.

Hi and welcome to the forums :)

The first step that most people here will tell you is to try an reinstall your wifi driver. Since your HP works fine with the router, I would suspect it is a software on your Asus that is causing the problem. There may be a newer wifi driver version on Asus's website, so I'd check with that too.

Thanks, I will check that out, however I was able to connect by turning off my WEP protection, basically turned off all security and I can get on.

I have the key and have it typed correctly into the laptop but it just doesn't want to use it. It comes back saying something about dns, but I don't have the laptop with me atm to verify the error. It's pretty annoying, because I am sure this is going to be a vista issue, and I don't know anything about vista, yet.
