Hello! I'm brand new around here... well, I've been reading all your great comments for about a week. I'm a new member and poster. I just ordered an Asus Z70V from www.istnc.com. Rick and Gwen were great to deal with and I'm pumped about my new toy. I'll post a review when it arrives, probably mid- to late next week.
My Z70V is speced as follows:
1.6GHz Sonoma (I'll upgrade to a 2.5GHz when prices drop)
1 GB PC4200
40 GB 5400 RPM Seagate
ATI x600 PCIe
Intel 2915 wireless
$1506 shipped
I wanted a light, fast notebook for animation/multimedia development, writing (manuals and PR pieces), and general stuff. I'm not a notebook gamer; that's reserved for my Hornet Pro SFF system. I'm new to Asus, but everything I've read tells me they make high quality notebooks.

Great! Congrats on ur new toy[8D]... Im looking at the same thing and pretty much for the same thing. What other notebooks had you looked at or used in the past that you could compare it to? Hope you enjoy it! Im looking forward to your review![

You guys will like it. The only thing that I don't like is the keyboard. It's little hard to press. You should not order a memory chip because istnc charged $180 while you can buy it from newegg.com. It's much cheaper.

Congrats on your purchase. I'm sure you'll love it just as much, if not more than I love my M6Ne [

Do you own a Z70V then zenitu? If so, can you comment on any other aspects of it? Heat, performance? Etc... Any suggestions / reviews would be great!
Cheers! -
Thanks for all the nice comments. I've owned/used lots of notebooks, since 1999. My last notebook was a Dell Inspiron 8600, back in late 2003. It was thick and heavy, with cheap feeling plastic. I eBayed it after about six months.
I really hope the z70v is as good as it appears. It'll be my first Asus. A friend has an Asus M3N. It's really nice, with a good screen and an aluminum lid. It feels solid and sleek, so I felt good about ordering my z70v. My friend thinks it'll be an awesome machine, too. Like I wrote previously, my review will be posted as soon as I get my notebook. -
Welcome to the forum and Congrats on the purchase...a review would be great too.

Thanks Zenitu!
Really appreciate the help! I'm sure others do too! What other laptop systems have you used? What are you comparing this machine to? Did you look at the Z71V? That was my other alternative to the Z70V but the 1lb dif and better chasis is making me swing to this machine. Though this one has got a worse grafix card but, like you, Im not planning on playing games (just gfx manipulation like you) so I dont think it will be a big issue. The x600 is fairly good anyway... Weight wise are you comparing it to other thin/lights or notebooks in general? It seems to be a very good weight for its specs. Well thanks again! I grealy appreciate all your help[]!
Cheers! -

Off topic:
I must say..... 24 is my fav as well...... so glad the season is over.... I didn't get into it till this season and watched the 1st and 2nd season on dvd during this season...... watched both of them in about 4 days......... if I didn't have to sleep, I would have watched it for 24 hours straight .... like it was meant to be watched!
Thanks,
Justin

My finace and I did the same thing with 24! We started watching this 4th season and rented the 1st and 2nd season on DVD with Netflix because we couldn't stand waiting a week between season 4 episodes.
We will be getting season 3 soon. I hope it is as good as season 2 (our favorite out of 1,2, and 4). -

Yeah, well I heard season 3's writing was bad.... but it's not going to stop me from watching it. It's honestly horrible to have it on dvd becasue you just want to watch it straight through........ Then again, whats harder, doing that or waiting through 24 weeks or more?
Even though the ending of this season was pretty wicked, I don't think it's done..... They'll think of something.
Thanks,
Justin

Nice to find some 24 fans around here. To ease your concerns, FOX has already signed up for season five of our favorite series. I've watched the finale' of this season's 24 about five times. I think this was the best season yet. Watching Jack slip into the sunset as he walked alone towards the border reminded me of the way the old Hulk TV series used to end. We always saw David Banner walking alone down some road as the show ended.
Man, talk about hijacking a thread, huh? I guess it really can't be considered hijacking, since I'm the one who hijacked my own thread. HA!! []

Yeah good call... and I knew that ending seemed awfully familiar.... I was certainly young when I watch the hulk, but it's a classic ending.... certainly glad to know it's coming back.
Thanks,
Justin
