Hey, so i just got a new laptop (asus x555lb) and from day one I'm hearing a little noise coming from my hard drive, its not loud but you can hear when the drive gets busy making like a small spinning noise. its really hard to describe. Is that normal?

Mechanical drives are known for making noise. If you want a drive without noise then you should go with a SSD which also gives you much better performance.

they are designed that way to conserve power. spin down when idle, spin up when needed.

if you don't like that, you can override it temporarily with software called CrystalDiskInfo. it has aam/apm control, and if you disable it, your hdd will just keep spinning with no spin up time.
