I just purchased an asus g1 today, I should get it next week with any luck, hopefully with no dead pixels ).Anyways are the speakers really that bad, I hate headphones but it's not too big of a deal I will buy some external usb speakers. Also what kind of performance can I expect to get in oblivion and fear? Thanks for any help.

As for the speakers, what I have found is that at their default setting they do sound rather tinny, I've heard worse in laptops. However if you change the equalize setting to "powerful" they actually sound pretty decent for laptop speakers. (note, in Vista I always got popping and crackling, no prob since going back to xp)

As for oblivion or fear, I only played the fear demo and you have to tweak some of the settings but get pretty decent performance. (can't run at full native resolution basically)

I think most people complain about the G1's speakers because they actually project out the sides rather than forward. This does create a small "dead zone" directly in front of the computer. It's not a big deal to me but I also spend most of the time with headphones on.

As far as game performance I haven't loaded up Oblivion but I play Vanguard on it and am very satisfied with the performance. I would assume Oblivion would play just fine on it.

    DING DING DING!!!!

    You got that right AlexOnFyre!!!

I upgraded my G1 to a brand new G1S!!! LOL

I was pretty happy with the G1 and didn't have plans to upgrade just yet, but a friend of mine wanted my G1 soooo bad that he paid me right there on the spot $1500 for it even though I recommended him to go online and get a new G1S instead, he insisted so much that I didn't have other option but to let it go... (seriously!)

    Happy holidays!
