Nice!
What are the GT120 and GT130 comparable to?
It's very confusing these days with Nvidia renaming there GPU's.
-
still no word on k series
-
GT120M: On par with the 9600M. Basically a lower clocked GT130M
GT130M: Basically the same card as the 9650M but with higher clock frequencies.
There is word, but it's under NDA (i think) so I'd rather not take any chances. But it'll be out shortly after
-
Look at this http://www.laptopmag.com/review/laptop/asus-n81vp-c1.aspx
1GB GPU! beating desktop replacement laptops! if they built this spec in a U6 style chassis, I would be all over it. -
1GB of video ram doesn't mean it is any better than 512MB or even 256MB of Vram. GPU performance is based on the type of vram used, clock frequencies, memory bus width, # of piplines etc. In the N81Vp's case, the Mobility Radeon HD 4650 only has a 128bit bandwidth, which means that graphics performance is limited by the speed that this memory can be read and therefor by adding more vram will not increase performance on those cards. So, in reality, if you had the same card but with 256MB of vram, it will perform the same as the 1GB version. The reason why many manufactures do this is nothing more but a marketing strategy.
-
I have to agree about the marketing strategy comment, People tend to look for stuff like 1GB and Nvidia and ATI along with flashy catches with the way the labtop works. Most dont even go as far as to look into the technical aspects of the computer there buying. Very well put though.

Will this F50Sv replace the G50vt? Or still no replacement for this one.
PS: have tou guys seen the Lamborghini VX-5? Wow!!! -
No, G50vt will probably go to a GT160m next. A GT120m would be a huge downgrade.

none of these are due out in april. sorry to break it to you. not in the states
-
Ouch!
Any expected ETA? May or June maybe!?
Btw anyone know if the N51 will also have a version w/ the HD 4670? -
Oh blah, nothing for me here.
G50vt still looks to be the one I'm gonna get this summer unless the K series comes out in time. -
Geared2play.com Company Representative
you can expect them to get an eta end of april which means arrival maybee sometime mid-end of june.
-
I hope the G50Vt gets a nice upgrade over the 9800M GS. I'd love for a GPU upgrade to become available so that down the line I don't need to get rid of my laptop.
-
Like David said, GT120=9600M and GT130=9650M, ATI HD4650 still the better card.
-
Anyone know the clocks and/or power consumption on the GT 120M? So far I have:
9700M GT: 625/1550/800, 45W (65nm)
GT 130M: 600/1500/800, 23W (55nm)
9650M GT: 550/1375/800, 23W (55nm)
9600M GT: 500/1250/800, 23W (65nm)
For the GDDR3 models, w/ all having 32 SP and 128-bit. -
Well, resellers in the US haven't received the April price list yet AFAIK, but hopefully you guys will soon. From there, you should see the listed models I mentioned in my first post.
-
Yeah thats a good point, but did you read the review? im sure there are faster cards out there but having a 14" that will outperform destop replacement systems is good system to look out for.

Ye just got it and these models are on it.
N90SV-A2 NV GT 130M 1GB DDR2 VRAM
N90SV-A1 NV GT 130M 1GB DDR2 VRAM
N70Sv-A1 NV GT 130M 1GB DDR2 VRAM
N51Vf-A1 NV GT 130M 1GB DDR2 VRAM
F50SV-A2 NV GT 120M 1GB DDR2 VRAM
These are pretty low on the gaming scale though thus the cheap price. I really dont understand their product managers. Why refresh the bottom of the litter first? their bread and butter (aside eee pc) is the g50 series and g71 series. -
Just an update: apparently GenTech already has a few of these new models up for pre-sale. Links in OP.
-
Like neilnat said, the F50 will not replace the G50. They are in completely different catagories (budget vs gaming)
As for the VX5, yes, it's a VERY nice system. It'll also be out soon (can't give you the ETA, though
), and you can expect it to be EXPENSIVE.
No, the G50 will have a better GPU than the GT160M
As the saying goes, "Save the best for last"
-
That is pretty big news. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that really just leaves the 260/280m or the ATI 4800 series. Any word on whether it'll sport an ATI chip or an Nvidia chip??
-
But the only thing left as a possibility is the GTX 260M.... no way a 4860/4850 pops up..... right?
I hate NDAs at this time of the year lol. -
I dont understand why they use 1GB DDR2 VRAM.
I will take smaller and faster 256MB GDDR3 VRAM any day.
I wonder if 1GB DDR2 VRAM price is still cheaper than 256MB GDDR3 VRAM? -
That's a shame they still use DDR2 to lower cost. No one replied on my last one, I guess no news of a N51 w/ HD 4670
-
The only GPU for N51 series in North America is NV GT 130M.
-
I'm sorry, I must have missed your previous post. But like Ken said, it seems like the 4670 won't be available.
-
Bah! Guess I'd stick with the N81 if anything...
-
Source?????
-
I'm pretty sure that someone at Asus will have my head by morning if I were to reveal my sources
-
Hmm awnsered
-
okay can u tell at least if the new G50 will come with 260 or 280 ?
Thanks -
I promise you, it won't be the 280.
-
Man, I really hope the U80 comes out in the US soon.
