    To The Forerunner:

what happened to the "Real men own a c90!" frase you had? i really enjoy it

you know it was that slogan i saw before buying the notebook (when i was deciding wich one o buy) that got me even more into c90 because of the discrete and simple look but powerfull NB :)

I've heard that WinFlash isn't the best way to flash a BIOS. I'd like to burn it onto my CD, but how does it work after that? Can anybody give me directions?

You should be able to burn it to a cd and an iso will be loaded. heres a link to Ken's bios link since I don't want to steal his directions.

Don't know what happened in that post maybe show my signature got clicked off. Hmm wow really? Somehow I knew I would have the fate over thousands of c90s, making sure they find a nice caring home like yours. It is my destiny I feel it. You should tell asus, that way I will definitely get hired by them and "Real men own a c90!" TM (COPYRIGHTED!!) will be heard around the world. Honestly who wants to be accused of not being a real man? All psychological my friend. :)

Thanks Forerunner. I guess I'll have to wait and see if Ken would make an iso out of it :)

Also I went onto the ASUS website on my c90 laptop and the new BIOS does not show at all. I guess it is the same problem you are having. I can see it when I use my desktop though. Really weird.

I think they took it down for whatever reason. Axlvtt what you can do is click on the zip and burn it. THe weird thing is with my old computer (maybe it was the program) it would say this is a zip file do you want to burn the contents of it on a cd and I would click ok and it would work with ken's method. THats what I did with the bios 601. On any other computer though all it does it burn the zip even the c90. I tried at least 4 other comps. Now if I only had a chance to download the new bios I would have tried it out. There must be something wrong with it since they took it down.

So I guess we will wait for Ken to put it up or maybe something is wrong with the bios and they took it down.

    Flashed using Asus update utility.

Turbo gear gaming mode still works fine.

    yah. WTF!

i have a c90s [Velocity Micro x25 from circuit city] and have been patiently waiting for the new bios to fix my battery mode crashing issue.

the 801 bios still doesnt fix it. for some reason you can't download it from the asus site now (says server to busy, i did DL it earlier today though), but you can download the 704 & 601. hmmm hopefully they are going to fix the 801 to make it actually fix the c90s E6600 & E6700 processor issue. ??

anyone have any luck w/ the 801 bios on their c90s w/ E6600 or E6700?

oh FYI, in case you are wondering how I flashed the bios, I used a usb flash stick & the alt-F2 thing on boot.

    WinXP SP2 & WinXP 64 (dual boot)
Everything works fine except it crashes in battery mode.

BIOS 801 ISO for your convenience:

    http://1toppc.com/Merchant2/images/Notebook/Asus/C90S801B.iso

1: Download the ISO and burn into the CD.
2: Restart the computer with CD in the drive and press "ESC" once when you see the Asus logo.
3: Select boot from CD drive and press enter.
4: Computer will boot to A:\ prompt
5: Type UPDATE at A:\ prompt and press enter
6: BIOS flash will start and DON"T turn off or press any key or buttons on the laptop.
7: It'll go back to A: prompt when BIOS flash is finished.
8:restart the computer and press F2 to enter BIOS.
9: press F10 to save and exit BIOS.

I've mention before, the fan will runs at full speed on this BIOS, it's so fast that you think the computer going to explode that's why I didn't post it, the BIOS date says it's 07/31/2007 in the BIOS system information, still a very early BIOS even they just release on Asus website.

It says it update CPU uCode on Asus website, but I have no idea which CPU they update on this BIOS.

If you don't like 801 you can always flash back to 704:

I am now under BIOS 801.... but I don't seem to notice the fans going full blast. I have an E6320 processor. However, i think the fans are kicking in a lot more... ( around the 65deg C CPU ) temp range. Also seem to notice that my temps are a little lower....

I like the 801 bios. It keeps temps cooler. Unfortunately, I still can't use gaming mode. I have a 8600m and the e6700 proc.
edit: The fans are really quiet on my C90, so it doesn't bother me. I do notice they're on all the time now, but it doesn't seem to be on "full blast" all the time. Whatever.

I take it back about the 801 BIOS making fan runs at full speed.

The 801 BIOS on Asus website is different than they sent me, the date is 08/27/2007 not 07/31/2007, it does not make fans running at full speed so I guess it's OK to flash it.

Just don't know why they still call it 801.

Cool beans, I flashed my BIOS with 801. Anyone evernotice how when you switch from AC to battery how there was that slight freeze before going into power savor, well its gone. Donno if this will fix your battery BSOD issues, but it fixed something I really didn't consider an issue, or had gotten use to. Battery life still sucks. How the hell so some of you under clock to 100/100, Riva only lets me put it down to 240/200?

Ok, so this is lame. I can't update the BIOS, every time I try, it tells me the server is too busy. Each one, with all 3 OS options they have.... Now, I clicked on the 704 for ****s and giggles, well that comes up and asks if I want to save it. I hit cancel because I want the 801, well, still nothing.

I would download the one from the GenTech site, but it is to my understanding that the one they have is different from the one that Asus has officially released.

    Anyone?

I experienced that too ( server is too busy ). But after several persistent clicks, it would come through. ( Tried downloading from global first, then at USA site and it worked. )

Well it worked after a day. Finally, downloaded it and now I can't Flash the BIOS. The Asus program doesn't work at all for some reason and for some unknown reason as well, I can't seem to download WinFlash. Yes, I've posted this twice now. Anyone know what to do?

I've tried the method that E.B.E. has posted in the other BIOS thread and I don't get anywhere.

Yea, that's the problem. I'm running Vista X64 Ultimate. I kind of regret it now, because from what I understand, there is close to no difference between the 64 bit version and the 32 bit version, with the exception that some games/programs wont load onto X64, which is a problem I've already ran into.

after flashing latest bios i got BSOD when booting up and overclocking still freezes. I'm pretty sure the latter is because of crappy ram.
