Just got new drive TSST TS-L632C (old drive TS-L532A).

Does not "plug/play" or install . the thing simply crashes my system (if install when computer on) or computer does not even start-up (if installed when computer is off)?

    Any thoughts?

BTW: Thought it might be my driver but cannot find any updates or anything on net (inlcuding tsst own website!!)

    Any help appreciated

That's odd. The computer doesn't even turn on with the new drive installed? You're saying you don't even get a BIOS post message?

Is it on the same IDE controller as your hard drive? Might need to set jumpers to slave (assuming hard drive is master). Matching the old cdrw/dvd drive's jumper setting should probably take care of the problem.

Gautam: The computer turns on of course but thereafter I simply get a flashing cursor in upper right hand of screen. And that is as far as it goes..computer seems to lock up.

Chem: This could be it..how can I tell if IDE is same (sorry - newbie here)

    Well, according to this link

    http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Asus_M6VA,Z70VA

the Z70VA has a single IDE controller, so both your hard drive and DVD burner will be on the same controller. You'll either need to set the hard drive to master and the dvd burner to slave (or vice-versa) or, if the option is available set both to Cable Select.
