Just a quick mention because it's something I forgot to do on the "list to do's" when I first got my G1s.
After you update the stock drivers to the ones of you choice, make sure you download the latest August "end-user Runtimes' for DirectX 10.
It's made a major difference for me in a big way. My screen looks crisper and colors more vibrant. I installed a demo of "Lost Planet" which was needing a missing .dll and snapped that I never updated DX10.
    Have a good one, Robin

The downloadable directx is 9.0c. An update to dx10 will be shiped with vista SP1.

The file I downloaded from M$ says "Dxwebsetup" at around 22MB and it states 9.0, but I also updated with the august end-user runtimes which was like a 58mb file.

I ran the DX 10 version of Lost Planet after I did the updates and the original missing .dll error was resolved.
If you google "lost planet + missing .dll" it brings up lots of forums addressing the issue.

    P.s I'm using 163.11's

Here is one link, but you can go to MS and search the site for their DirectX downloads, which is what I did .

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2924.html

This link has information about what the download includes, and you can download from there also.
    "DirectX SDK - August 2007
New features in this release include the Direct3D 10.1 Technology Preview and the XAudio beta, plus several new samples."
    http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/xna/aa937788.aspx

I guess its not dx10, but I can run the Dx10 demo version of Lost Planet now and couldn't before the update.

Has anyone else seen a difference in the quality of their display since updating?
