Hi. I just got my G50V-A1 and loved it. I upgraded from a Toshiba Satellite 5100. I just wish the G50V can go higher than WSXGA+ so it would be nice when connecting to a 1920 x 1200 resolution capable LCD. The Toshiba has 1600X1200 resolution btw. Other than that, I still have lots to explore. :D

Anyway, the way I use my laptop is like a desktop. I always have the power brick plugged in, so the battery is almost always removed when I am at home. I am wondering if anyone know where one can get a cover only for the battery slot.

Also, I was really surprised about the Asus Accidental Damage Warranty. Bought the unit on Sept. 4. but only put the thing in operation 2 days ago. On the outter most package, there is a sticker about Asus Accidental Damage Warranty. When I searched about it on the Asus website, it was saying that only laptops bought on or after Sept. 10, 2008 are eligible for this added warranty. I was kind of upset to have read it. But since I don't have any choice regarding that, I went ahead and registered the unit. Then I thought I try the Asus Accidental Damage Warranty. To my surprise, my purchase was eligible! I am just happy to know that its there when its needed.

Oh well. Anyone with any idea on the bettery slot cover, please advise.

    Thank you.

    JB..

When you connect the laptop to an external monitor that supports 1920 x 1200 resolution, you will be able to choose that no problem. Also, the Asus Accidental Damage Warranty started Sept. 10, 2007: http://adw.asus.com/content/adp/default.aspx
I just ordered this laptop myself and am waiting for it to make it to my doorstep :D Enjoy your purchase, it's certainly an amazing laptop and for a great price too!

Ahhh! I did not read it right. I just assumed that it was 2008, not 2007. I stressed out myself for nothing.

Anyway thanks for the info. I haven't tried connecting it to my LCD monitor yet. If that is the case, that would be great!

BTW, any idea on the cover only battery slot cover?

    Anyone?

    Thanks,

    JB..

Never heard of such a thing.

Would suggest you talk to or PM one of the resellers here such as GenTechPC with this question.

I would suggest just keep the battery in. Helps in case of power outages ;)

There is no real downside to this; you may increase its life somewhat by keeping it on the shelf. The battery will also age on the shelf, although slower (store it at around 43% charge, btw, not 100% that will surely kill it faster).
