Intel releasing new lineup of low end desktop quads to compete with amd starting with Q7500. 65w tdp, 2 mb lvl2 cache, 800mhz fsb @ 2.6ghz(13x). Expected price around $150
Interesting stuff methinks....

65w has to be a mistake. Even the QX9300 is only 45w.

The C90s uses desktop chips. -
I don't find any Q7500 in Intel Processor Spec Finder ?
-
It's not released yet.

Oops, my mistake.

Indeed not getting released until next month I think. Sounds quite sweet except for the tiddly 2mb lvl2 cache. Bringing bus speed to 1066 would stick it at practically 3.5ghz; although at that speed even at 45nm it would probably drain too much power and create too much heat to work stably. Still the quad is a viable option for the now aging laptop and the first(only perhaps) quad to be so.

Interesting, could be a nice upgrade to my E4500.
New Intel Core 2 Quad Q7500...another potential upgrade for the C90S!
