    Hi,
I bought my K52JK-A1 from Xotic-PC a couple of months ago and have loved it. But, recently it has started to randomly shut down, usually while watching a movie or video editing. It does not shut down, just flat turns off. I just installed CPUID and am getting numbers at around 84 max on GPU and 81 max on CPU. That is a little hot, but not horrible from what I am reading. Searches on the internet have turned up possible northbridge failure.? I guess I should call ASUS. I hate to send it in, I use it for work. How long is the turn around... does anyone know? Also, any ideas on what is happening?

Yea, it sounds like a motherboard issue... Maybe not being able to handle the power draw under the load you're taxing it with anymore?

It could also be the northbridge issue you were thinking about, as that is a generally unmonitored area of the motherboard.

Have you tried cracking open the computer and giving it a good dusting?

Also another thing to try is something along these lines: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/414147-grab-copper-drill-now.html

Thanks, pwnedbygaryha, that's a cool mod! but, I'm not willing to mess with a 2 year warranty. I'll have to open and dust, but it shouldn't even be very dusty after 2 months, I wouldn't think?
