Okay well I ordered a M50SV-A1 (which should have come with a 50 dollar gift certificate) for 1399.99 w/ free ship. Anyways didn't get the 50 dollar gift certificate but instead 2 machines (1 is my wife's now and she's selling her new Dell 1520). The error came because Asus drop shipped one and the vendor sent one. Both arrived at different times and the one from the vendor had an additional box around it. Lucky me. Anyways...

I was trying to install 4gb of ram and the bios sees it, but I tried to enable PAE with no luck. The computer still reads 3071mb when viewing My Computer > properties.

Used command line bcdedit /pae forceenable and then tried turning NX off. Nothing seems to work. PAE was enabled on her 1520 and my Toshiba U205. Any ideas?

It is a 32 bit OS. It does not recognize the full 4GB RAM

If you install vista sp1 it will show the full 4GB but you will not be able to use it.

Vista32 has a limitation on total address space so PAE will not work.

Uh... are you sure it's legal to keep both machines?!? I would imagine it's not... just be sure not to get into trouble later on when they find out that there's one machine less at the count...

Actually, PAE should enable the OP to use the entire 4GB even in a 32-bit OS. Make sure that the computer supports it; and if applicable that it's enabled in the BIOS?

I really have no experience with it; however from hear-say I've found out that it's buggy and not very reliable. Maybe it's best to give it up?

Its legal to keep them. the poor sap who shipped them would be responsible unless it really was the distis mistake. Asus does not drop ship directly. they drop ship indirectly. The vendor requests a drop ship throught disti. the disti puts the order with asus and asus shipps it wherever. i dont see how this can be blamed on asus. If the vendor drop shipped and they sent one they its the vendors loss.
