Those coupons won't work, but keep an eye out for them, ASUS usually issues MiR to Canadians as well....just later

Yeah, those are the older rebates from April. Thing is, Canada computers is listing that they are offering the same $100 and $200 off rebates on their systems, right now and here in Canada! they also haven't updated their rebates section yet though. They also still have the older $50 and $100 rebates that expired in April listed. I've been looking everywhere for the past 2 and a half days for the Canadian forms. I'm dying to find out what date these new Canadian rebates will fall on when Canadacomputers and other retailers post them up!!! Can you imagine another $200 off the price I just paid, NICE

This might seem like a stupid question, but can anyone tell me which UPC barcode I need to cut out and include/send in for the rebates. There's a UPC sticker and code on the outer brown box and another one on the official box that is actually carrying the V6V or W5a (this is the one with the graphics on it). Do you guys think either of them is fine, or is one right and the other wrong. I don't want to take all the time to put in and wait for these rebates, after making photocopies for my records and all, and then find out I sent in the wrong UPC sticker. So, which one should I send?
Anyone's opinions and feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
PS, I can't believe how far back I had to go to find this thread, this Asus forum is definitely hopp'in!!! -
It says that you have to register the rebate online, is it required that you do that before June 4, or just within 30 days of purchase?

Hey, I revived this thread and you guys can't offer me any advice??? I know you know what I need to know Justin...which UPC code do I need to send in with everything, the one on the brown box, or the one on the box with the Asus graphics on it? Both are identical, but I don't want to send the wrong one in, If there is a "wrong" one, and then not get my rebate on a technicality. Someone please give me an answer
-

Hey Comaboy, it's either one, as long as you have the actual UPC in the envelope it's fine. I took the one off the pictured box just for the record. I've done so many rebates, it doesn't matter which UPC as long as it is a UPC and it has your number on it.
-
-
Yeah I'm sure. You can send them both if you're really unsure. That way there's no problems =)
The people working rebates are really nice, I messed up on a Sony one a while back and I thought I wouldn't ever get the rebate but they still got it through. -

Alright cool, because like battlecat, If I had the choice, then I'd choose to cut up the plain old brown box, and keep the nicer box that actually holds the system intact.
Like I said, all the numbers match, and both even have the serial numbers present, so It shouldn't make a difference, I just wanted someone else to confirm that fact...It would be terrible to go through all that and then lose the rebate on a technicality. Since I'm going to photocopy everything anyways, maybe I'll try and photocopy the other UPC too, while It's still on the box, and send them the original from the brown box, and a copy of the one of the graphic box. That should cover all bases. -

Hey, I just finished the online rebate registration process...and at the end of it, It says to provide a clean, clear ORIGINAL COPY of the invoice or receipt. But on the rebate form itself, It says to provide a COPY of the dated sales receipt or invoice. I already got photocopies of everything to be mailed in...So my question is, which one are you guys sending in? I'd really rather have the original incase I need it for servicing or any other issues, so what do you guys think? Again, I don't want to lose my rebate after all this on a technicality this small...any and all thoughts and opinions are welcome and appreciated. Thanks

Hmmm, isn't an "original copy" impossible?
It is either an original, or a copy...right?
What they are asking for is a copy of the original receipt or invoice...please excuse their somewhat limited grasp of the language -
CalibratedComa Notebook Evangelist
I agree that that could be what they mean, that's what I want to be sure of...but a copy in this case can also refer to the original document. After all, the Official receipt you get from wherever you buy anything, is actually a copy in itself, because the store also has one...therefore that can be refered to as an "original copy"...meaning the first one they gave you. If a store asked to see your original receipt in person, they could also phrase it as, "did you bring in/ do you have your original copy?" Meaning not a photocopy, but the actual first "copy" they handed you when you bought their product and they printed it out. Therefore no, It's not technically impossible to have an original copy in the business world these days, It is however a good example of an oximoron. Nice try though Paladin44!!!
I'd still like some other opinions please on these particular Asus rebates and what I should send in -

Read what it says in Number 3 of the form.
"Submit a copy of your dated sales receipt with the qualifying purchase highlighted"
Copy...not original. -
CalibratedComa Notebook Evangelist
Man, If you would read the reason I asked this in the first place then I wouldn't have to post this again...It is because I pointed out that there's a discrepancy between what that form says under number 3 and what the form I just printed off after registering for the rebates online says. I already pointed out that that form says a copy, that's why I want clarification. The new list of instructions says a clean, clear ORIGINAL COPY. That was my whole reason for asking the question in the first place, I want to know which one to follow, so I don't lose my rebate on a technicality.
I'm sorry for getting frustrated with you, but you missed the whole point I asked the question in the first place -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
You are making more of this than is necessary.
If you have any continuing doubts, then call or write ASUS and get the clarification from them. You won't get anything but opinions here, and what good does that do you?
The only sure way is to call or write ASUS...you have plenty of time to get it right. -
I'm pretty sure a COPY of the original will be enough... without your original you can't ever firmly prove you own the laptop. If you send it in, there's a slim chance you'll be seeing it again..
Since both UPC numbers are the same.. I'll be sending the ugly box UPC with a copy of my invoice. If that doesn't work I'll eat my hat. -

Actually, there are several Asus retailers that frequent this forum, which could easily and accurately answer this question...which I was hoping for. But I was also interested in hearing what other people are actually doing, since they have probably registered online and would know what I was talking about, It was their opinions I was curious about hearing, no offense.
You were trying to be funny, which is fine but doesn't help...and then when I pointed out that It is possible, you referred back to something I already knew and wasn't asking, which again doesn't help. If you were trying to help in good faith then don't worry about it, thank you for trying. I'm sure by tomorrow I'll have my answer from someone else. I only asked on the forum because in many cases it's faster, and I can only reach Asus long distance from Monday to Friday 9am - 5:30PM and itÂ’s the weekend. -

Yeah, that's what I figured, I just wanted some solid confirmation. Rebates are annoying as it is, so to go to all this trouble and mess something small up would really, really suck. Seeing as they like to point out several times that if any little thing is missed, the rebate won't be accepted.
