Asus has posted a new UAA driver for the W3 series.

    KB888111 2005/12/28 update
    OS Win2K / WinXP
Description UAA bus driver and Audio driver
Universal Audio Architecture bus driver and Audio driver for WinXP/2K
    File Size 51.27 (MBytes)

The reason for the big download is 24 languages all in one Zip file. The file is at http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/W3A/UAA_XP_2K_051228.zip (also //dlsvr02, //dlsvr03 and //dlsvr04). I found the download speed to be very slow.

Maybe it is an illusion, but my audio when playing a DVD seems to be louder after installing this software: I can get the volume to a level which is causing the speakers to distort and I don't remember being able to do this before.

The archive contains 3 files (Lang.exe, Silent.ini and Lang.ini) in the root directory and 3 versions of KB888111 in each of the language folders. More details of KB888111 can be read at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;888111 .
Perhaps someone would like to do a more subject before and after test? If this update fixes the audio volume problem then many people will be happy.

    John

    Thank you for this.

Did you get this off Asus Live Update? Mine doesn't seem to be working, I'm sure there are loads of updates for my W3V but I don't know where to get them.
When I click on Live Update nothing happens, what should I do?

I apprechiate your help in advance :)

Just go on the ASUS site for the W3V updates. The ASUS Live Update Utility didn't work for me either, so I uninstalled it. There were tons when I went to update my drivers. I hope this works. If it does, then I wasted some money buying the Turtle Beach USB Adapter to heighten the volume because it was annoying me and then I wouldn't need it anymore. Oh well, all I know is that the Turble Beach Audio Advantage Micro USB adapter works to raise the volume real high but only wen I use earphones or speakers. Works like a charm. I guess I'll install the new audio drivers to see how they work.

I'm giving this a bump. Has anyone else tried the new UAA driver? I have the impression that my W3A's audio is significantly louder since I installed it.
