I've tried both F2 and DEL when the ASUS white splash screen is on, but I cannot enter the BIOS setup. Is there some trick, or is it some other key ?

I want to change BOOT option so I can boot to an external DVD to do a clean setup.

    Any help ?

    Thanks.

Try pulling the HDD out first, and then try again.

It is indeed F2. For some reason, I can never do it on a cold startup. I tap-tap-tap as soon as the ASUS logo comes up, but it boots right to Windows.

However, it does work with a Restart, not a cold boot. (I have no idea why - and I'm sure there is a way to do it on a cold start, but this is good enough for me.)

I also struggled at first to figure out how to set the BIOS to allow the boot from my external DVD. The only device in boot priority section was Windows Boot Manager. But I went to the Security section, and Disabled Secured Boot, then went back to boot, and found the external DVD (but only when it was actually connected.) The BIOS has really changed in this regard from the Windows 7 days.

Try holding the button down, alternatively. I've missed the cue when tapping repeatedly. Sometimes the laptop just ignores me altogether, too. :p

Perhaps it was fastboot that prevented the BIOS setup on the cold boot while restarting it allows access to the BIOS.

Good thought - you are probably right. (I've turned this laptop over to its user, so don't have immediate access to it to try, but will when I next have my hands on it. ) Thank you.

The way to get into BIOS with the Asus S500CA-7320 is by pressing <Ctrl> and <F2>, I found this out through trail and error since I have not been able to find the answer elsewhere. Hope that helps...

The forum doesn't display CTRL + F2 due to the usage of
so I've revised it for everyone to see, thank you.
