    hi guys...

just got my new w2jb and have been busy getting it going.....

ran into some questions ---- i know...they are stupid...but i need your help!

please lend a helping hand to an asus newb.....

    1) pre-installed shortcut on desktop for "NTFS Converter" --- so, i am guessing this is a pre-installed program that will make converting from fat easy.....but if/when i do, does that mean i must re-install windows? do a complete reformat? and does it matter that there are 2 partitions as is? if anyone could lay down the correct procedues/benefits/how-to...etc...i would be indebted to you...

    2) windows media center --- so what is the big deal? is there anything differnet from xp other than the separate window that shows up when you wanna watch tv/dvd/etc.....? i am confused on what it adds to the os....

    3) battery power while charging.....where can i find this value! haha.....
and is the battery 100% charged when it comes in? i unplug the power cord and it says 100% remaining....

    4) "infineon security" -- what is this, and should i follow through with the security setup it wants me to go through?

    5) am i the only w2jb owner that has no lock mechanism for the display? there are no butons/hindges to release the display, it just opens and closes when you lift/close it.....the manual points out that you should make sure to release the hindge before opening...perhaps they decided it was unnessary?

1 just hit the shortcut no need to reinstall anything. I recommend you do its a better more secure file system
    2. yes thats media center that screen that pops up. Media center is designed for home theatre use thats what the one screen interface is for. for a stand alone computer it adds no benifit only for doing stuff from the couch using the pc as a tv or connecting to a high def set.

3 there should be alittle battery icon in the sys tray. if not go to control panel power settings. and click show in the sys tray.

    4 i have no idea

5 there is not latch just a magnet that is it.

i ran the shortcut for the ntfs converter ---- and while it runs, it stops because "volume is in use by another process" --- and asks if i want to "force a dismount on this volume?" --- is that ok to do?

    2 stock partitions --- c and d --- c is fat, d is ntfs....

isn't it only possible to convert the c to ntfs if you reformat? and just combine into 1 partition?

but then again, they didn't provide a win xp cd, so that is not an option...

    anyone got some advice?

I have an answer to your ntfs question.

Type "y" to dismount and press enter. Restart your computer, and your C: drive (which is previously FAT) will be converted to NTFS automatically. It'll take a couple of minutes I think for this process. The data in your hard disk will be the same as it was before (this is NOT a reformat).

    Hope that helps.
