Hi folks. Just received my w3j and the first thing I did was load up my online gallery to see how they look on this lcd. Immediately, I noticed that all my pictures looked pink. Pure white is fine but anything with color will have a pink tint to them.

Do any of you other w3j owners see the same thing? I'm gonna try adjusting the colors in the Catalyst control center but I have a feeling that won't help much. If that doesn't work, I'll try reinstalling the whole OS from scratch.

Nevermind. Stupid me didn't see the display mode button on the right side of the keyboard. Switching to Gamma Correction made everything all pretty.

OS installation isn't going to affect color reproduction on the LCD - you'll have to play around with the settings.

If the tint you're seeing is pink, you'll obviously be starting with the gamma/brightness/contrast on red; this is going to move your pure white off, however; there's always a tradeoff :(. The problem I had on my w3a was that it was too green, and I've managed to get this under control and it's decent now - this was a thread 4-5 months ago and I can pull my numbers for any z63 owners left around here besides AuroraS and myself, if anyone's interested.

The other issue you'll run into, as you probably know, is that (absent a dedicated calibration device to match the lcd output with the original jpg/raw file data) the same photo will tend to look different on different lcd's (my ultrasharp Dell is a good example of this)... some of the difference may also be due to the [much] narrower viewing angles on the w3 screen. I gave up trying to match a given photo between the lcd's, and just tried to make them look good in general - the Ultrasharp is closer to print colors anyway and that's what I use for my photo editing.

edit: Yeah, there's always that simple thing about base kelvin color that gets in the way. Glad it looks good for you now :)

Ha ha Looks like you answered your own question, I was going to say try the splendid technology (third shortcut botton down on the right hand side).

Has anyone with a W3J uninstalled this software, to speed up startup and save memory? if so what does the screen look like OK? I maen you can still change the colour in the ATI settings anyway. :D
