Ok, my first notebook and I think it's fu*king amazing! My question are:
1)How to check my bios? I just recieved this so would the bios be up to date? (main concern is granyness, but I don't notice it yet)
2)What to do with my battery? I'm new to laptops but fairly good with computers. NHC I hear is the program to manage my battery. Should I do a wear test off the start to calibrate? Also how to treat these batteries. Wear them down and fully charge to prolong life, or allways keep charged?
3)How to turn bluetooth off
4)Why there are no logos where there are clearly spots for them?
5)Where is my mouse? Am I not supposed to recieve a little one or something?
Those are the main questions and I'm sure I'll have more as I use this.
Thanks to all for any thoughts

As your computer boots, the BIOS is the black and white part which comes up first. Sometimes the version is displayed as you boot and sometimes you need to enter into the options to check. If your case is the latter, hit F2 as you boot. Somewhere on the screen, the version number should be listed. You can then compare that number to the number listed under BIOS in the download section of the Asus website for your computer. You don't need to do any calibrating. Modern batteries come ready to use. In terms of it's use... I'd say just let the battery drain when you're away from your desk and plug it in when you are there or aren't using it. To turn off bluetooth, try right clicking on the blue bluetooth icon in the tray and look for something about disabling it. If you can't find that, navigate to "network connections" and use the options there to disable it. I think the Z-model Asus laptops are what's called "built-on" so they have their own badges and do not come with a mouse.

1) F2 on boot
2) The experts say you should put it in the freezer at 50% charge. I'm usually very hungry when I open the freezer, having exhausted all sources of available food in the fridge, so I don't put anything in there I can't microwave and eat in ten minutes or less. I say leave it fully charged in your notebook and replace it every couple of years---the capacity will decrease steadily but in my opinion it's better than the freezer idea. And no, don't fully drain a lithium ion battery, that'll kill it faster.
3)Bluetooth doesn't come standard on the S96J, never had a use for the technology, I'd guess you go under Device Manager.
4)Barebones only have the ATI logo, I believe.
5)Huh?
In BIOS, check to see if you have the same version as me. If you do, "no grainy!!!". Thank Ken at GenTech for the solution. -
2.) Your battery is Lithium-Ion, so it's best to only drain it partially and then recharge, although every so often a full discharge/recharge cycle helps as well. Basically, though, use it how you need to, and don't worry about it.
3.) no idea
4.) your reseller didn't put the stickers on
5.) an external mouse is not a standard accessory with the Z96J. -
1) F2 on boot up
2) I've found after having no fewer than 5 asus notebooks in the last 11 months that leaving the power in the laptop and discharging the battery once a week at least is best for the battery. Since doing that I've had no battery wear at all. (touch wood). I tried taking the battery out on my last one when i wasnt using it or didnt need it and it got wear fairly quickly.
3) depends what bluetooth drivers you have with your system. I've got something called wireless console 2, and i can click on that and choose to turn the wifi or bluetooth off. Toshiba bluetooth stack.
4as stated ^^ up to the reseller yeah.
5) as stated ^^ -
Just remove the battery when you're running off AC from the wall ... no wear/tear that way. The down side is that you don't have the safety of not losing your work if the power goes out like it does so frequently where I am.
