Well, how much more can the G1s get upgraded.

    I mean, it has:
    Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 2.2G <---2.4?
    Screen 15.4" WSXGA+
    Memory Size 2GB DDR2 <---Doubt it'll change
    Hard Disk 160GB <---200gb maybe?
Optical Drive DVD Super Multi <--HD-DVD or BluRay?
Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT <--Doubt it'll change
Video Memory 256MB GDDR3 VRAM, TurboCache up to 512MB <--???

But the V1s, V2s and F8s is good news :D

the only upgrade it seem to have from excalibur is the HD,...it will have a 200gig 7200tr/m...Other than that, we dont realy know, but I guess they overrulled most of the bios issue, and will bring a more stable laptop...
plus they all get intel turbo-memory, witch seem to be robson?
    quote from the news:
All above models will be available on the market by late August, please check with our distributors and resellers for details.

hope the v1s or g1s will be out before that...

EDIT: all the spect are already on the excaliburpc web site, they are first google link if you type the model number(like g1s-a2...)
the dif between g2s-a2 and g2s-a3 is that the a3 got a blue-ray drive

Ahg I hope they don't significantly change the G1S. I'm planning on selling mine to get a V2S once they're available (anyone want one? :p)and it's scary that the price might tank a bit right as the V2S comes out!

Now I just wish I hadda waited, but back in early June with no 13/14" SR's in sight I couldn't help jumping the gun.

knowing that the g1s-a1 used 160gig 5400tr/m hitachi 5k400 drive, It is possible that the new g1s-a2 have the new and AWSOME hitachi 7k200 200gig?(proly the best notebook hd out there)

Yes, I think it will. However, the price difference (at least as reported initially) is sufficient that I'd rather get the 160 GB drive and upgrade. Then I have a spare drive for about the same price as the model that comes with the 200 GB.

Come to think of it, this is just what I did and the 7k200 is very nice;-)

All the model listed in the title will be available for the N.A. market per Asus, in fact a few of them are mentioned in the July 07 notebook catalog. The link with missing pictures will be fixed by tomorrow hopefully. (the Asus team in China has been informed.)

We also highly recommend the 7k200 drives from Hitachi, excellent specs, too.

Hi EXcaliberPC i want to be sure when the V2s will be available to order.
Is it really will have the Hot Swappable Module Bay feature, can any one confirm that?
How about the price it seem higher than excepted!

    Thanks.

    Q8PHANTOM,

Intel Turbo memory will not be included with the V2S-A1, but I do see a few other models that will have the TM 1GB included, such as the upcoming VX2S-xx and F3SV-xx.

That is correct, the V2S does not support the hot swappable module bay feature, only the V1, VX and R1 series at this time. Sorry about the confusion.

Excalibur, do you have any rough estimates for shipping times besides "sometime in August?" My M1330 is supposed to arrive August 28th - a bit late since I start school September 1st and want to get used to a new laptop - and the V2s is the better value anyway ... I'm seriously considering scrapping the M1330 and switching.

In my opinion this isn't the most important thing in the world, the benchmarks between the GDDR2 and GDDR3 versions of the 8600M GT only show a few percentage points of difference, perhaps 5-10% in 3DMark06 scores.

What definitely more important is that the V1s has the 8600M GT and all the other cool features ;)

Yes, once again the V1s, just as the V1 before it, looks like the corresponding G1 in a suit and tie rather than gym shorts.

I'd have gone for a V1s, but the wait was too long and the G1s does what I need even if it does not look as businesslike.

what!? From the benchies it looks like the dd3 of the 8600gt version scores 20-25% higher than the ddr2 version at similar resolutions...so it matters...a lot.

No, it doesn't matter a lot. There will never be a game that will be playable on the GDDR3 version, and unplayable on the DDR2 version. The difference should also be less as drivers mature. Also don't forget that 3dMark06 is not an accurate representation of the gaming power of newer video cards. And even in 3DMark06, the difference is only about 15%, maybe 400-600 points maxium difference.

Quit playing games with me ASUS! Do you want my money now or later?

If the V1S-A1 can be delivered to me in early August, then I'm going to have to throw that into my list of potential notebooks and possible contender over the G1S. I've pretty much given up on all other brands now and am focusing on just Asus, so one way or another I'm going to have either the G1S-??, G2S-??, V1????, or something else. Man, I'm going to be so glad when it will be over soon and I will have something.

Ok, I'll bring up all the questions to Asus tomorrow by including a link to this thread, hopefully Asus will try to help with more info to each one of the questions. I wouldn't blame Asus for not releasing new products quick, they always have their reasons and it's usually for the good.

Asus us has very complicated marketing of models. It is by design and there is a pattern. They cannot actually beat dell or hp to market with new tech of a whole mass produced model but they can beat them to market with a few always.

All the upcoming models leaking is by design to keep the stray customers from getting like, a dell 1420 now while asus mass produces mostly the g1s and whatevers the best selling model they have already in the channel

So like, the person about to buy the dell xps 1330, he can know that asus will mass produce something soon like the v2, maybe get those customers to hold off long enough.

But the truth is even when it comes out its very hard to get for a month after that even, the reality is all of these models are a long way from really being in the channel. They are advertising

Im hoping the reason for the Delay is to fix the battery problem that plauged the last V1 series. I wouldnt say the v2S is all that much more portable tbh, Excalibur PC lists both as being 5.6lbs (God thats light!)

While it does not make that huge of difference, the difference DDR2/3 make is about on par with difference between 8400GT and 8600GS or 8600GS and 8600GT - 8400/8600 are already bandwidth limited in the first place. Many would not like it if their 8600GT performed like 8600GS, and so on.

Now, I want to know how 8600GS in V2S is clocked....

According to Excalibur, the V1S and V2S have identical dimensions and weight. That can't be right?
    Something to check, EXcaliburPC?

Does it really have a GDDR3.
    The 8600GS GDDR3 = 8600GT DDR2.
It can score 3600 in 3DMark06.
    Check that thread post#28.

Asus has pics up now. The F8Sv looks very stylish. The V1s looks the same as the V1JP (Which is good)

I love how they've made the G2S look like a Fisher-Price kids' toy.
