I have the Asus C90s with a 2.63 duo core processor and a 8600 gt graphics card. My laptop crashes all the time. Ive been running SpeedFan, a program to measure the temp of some of the components and at one time I think it was the "GPU" at 80C. and my Cpu an graphics cards run at 70ish Celsius.

So I bought a fan. I was going to cut a hole on the bottom of the laptop and install the fan there, to blow directly on the problem area. Well I cant seem to find a way to power it.....
There is no additional power plugs that I can see in the laptop. So I was wondering what I could do to power the fan? I need it to be running constantly. So I dont want to use the power plug from one of the other fans already in the computer. Any ideas? or Suggestions to help me out?

Im new to these forums, but hopefully someone could help me out! :)

try cleaning and reapplying some high quality thermal paste. it might help a bit. the gpu temp is normal as far as personal experience go, but the real problem seems to be your cpu temp. it is rather high. if that doesn't help, i think you can just cut a hole in the back cover and put a grid (i dunno how it's called) instead of a fan.

Ok, thanks! Ill try new thermal paste. I have the Cover actually off and some of my components still get up to the high 60's. Thats why I wanted to get the fan goin. Blowin in there to cool it all down some.

My Friend thought he could solder the wires of the fan to something in the laptop, to get Power going to the new fan constantly... Anyone have any thoughts on that??? lol

Don't worry about the GPU temp, you can't do anything about it. Mine idles at 90 sometimes. CPU should stay <65 idle and <68~75 load depending on which one you got.

I understand it gets hot, and that its kinda normal for the C90s to get like that. But I cant run any high end games for very long. Til I bluescreen or black screen. Or I just freeze for a min.

So im trying to do something to make it cooler. Hence the idea with the fan :)

Are the fans themselves clean? Sometimes they can get clogged up with dust (I'm not sure that happens with the battery of fans on the C90, but it often does happen with more "normal" notebooks :) )

Yep! I cleaned them off with compressed air. I cleaned the vents and cooler grills too. They werent even that dirty anyway. And it still runs very toasty lol

Are its built-in fans running properly? Do they ramp up the speed as they should, when the temperature increases?

Try running folding@home at the same time. It boosts the CPU usage.
    Also, have the newest BIOS?

The fans run, properly is another thing. I can be running a game an sometimes they dont come on at all. Then other times they do at full blast. But they dont seem to help much lol
