    Hello.
Today I have finally purchased the laptop of my dream. :) But I am having some questions about it, so could anyone please answer them. Thank you.

    1. I am using a modem and trying to connect to internet with the cable(lan), but I have no idea how to set it up.
    2. What is a good program that can monitor the temperature?
    3. Is there any bloatware other then Norton that should be uninstalled?

    Do you have a router or a modem(for DSL/Cable)?

NHC, RMClock are good programs to measure temperaturs.

ASUS LiveUpdate and Norton are must removes, the rest is up to you.

    1) Is it a cable modem? If so, just connect the laptop to the cable modem and you're done. If it's a DSL, I'll let others answer that one :)
    2) Try Speedfan
    3) I got rid of Asus Live update, instantfun, net4switch, NBprobe and multiframe

I also removed Splendid but for some reason Titan Quest runs smoother with it so I re-installed it.

u might wana go through the network setup wizard and say internet is lan always on.
otherwise are you useing ther right sort of ethernet cable?
it should have crossed wiring to connect a pc direct to modem.

Since this thread is about internet connections, I have a question.

At my house, I am using a cable modem (and wireless router of course) and everything is working great.

But what do I do when I need to use my dial up modem while at other peoples houses? (which I will be doing most of next week)

Do I have to go in and do something special?

Or just set up the dial up account like normal?

You should be able to just set up a dial-up account as normal.

Cable modem is always on and doesn't require authentication, so you should be able to plug and surf.
DSL requires you to log in.
Dial-up requires you to dial a number and log in.

Kiwiboy, under control panel> network connections does it show that your local area connection is connected?
