Now I know why it's worth it waiting for the V1J again, however, the F3J seems to be very interesting as well.
Please ASUS give us details on the release dates!

Great find, some really nice pics there.
thanks

Wow...V1J looks better than ever. Is that HDMI I spy on the left side?
Looks like the V1J will be packed with features. Where is the fingerprint reader, just below the trackpad?
Thanks Empluse for the pics. Since it's a long weekend, with everything closed it was going to be tough with no news. This will tide me over for now -
if the V1J had a brushed aluminum lid.. it'd look just like an enlarged W3!
-
too bad V1J does not have a wide screen
-
eh, but it is widescren!
you can see it right here.. 15.4" wxga
-
I really hope its not wxga that would be a big dissapointment.
-
I wonder what the difference is between the V1J and F3J.
-
Good find! I've been waiting on new pics of the V1J.
-
Hmmm.. very interesting... Timeline availability...anyone?
-
Did anyone notice that the F3J has the ctrl button to the LEFT of Fn?
Or that the lamborghini has a 7400. Lame -
we all know the lambo has a 7400.yeah some asus models are starting to come with the cntrl in the right place.
-
The V1J is gonna be a big hit. I believe it'll offer WSXGA+, but the resellers around here will know for certain.

The F3 is awfully similiar to the Z96...... Build isn't going to be fantastic...... I'm not 100% sure why they're starting this line.... I thought the Z96 WAS the F3, but Asus insists it isn't.
.... I told you guys the V1 would probably be the end-all in terms of ultimate system for a lot of people. The only problem is that Asus in the Fremont has expressed disinterest in it (as well as us at PROPortable and others), not to import the model unless Taiwan will offer a WSXGA+ screen on it.... It shouldn't be a problem, but Taiwan usually displays the top end in terms of options when they do shows like this.... But at the same time, it doesn't make sense why they couldn't use one.... so maybe we'll get lucky. Since no one really wants to bring in the top end system with the lower res, at least we have Asus Fremont on our side. -
sooo when should we expect the V1J if it will be coming at all?
-
I'm hoping it's gonna be a WSXGA too, but if they're aiming it at the same market as the MBP it's more likely to be WXGA+. -
Hopefully we will have some new news after the 4th -
I still don't have an affinity for the V1j. The F3j is looking okay and I would probably buy a U5 if available. What I want most is the W1j and now it's probably not coming to the States?! I don't get it.
-
I just got a look at the W1J pics. That is one hot notebook. It looks a lot like a widescreen V6. I think it's much sexier than the V1J... probably much more expensive, too.
-
V1J will be most likely more expensive than the W1J. The W1J is here priced at 1900 EUR ( www.xe.com).

I noticed that it doesn't mention the "ASUS Splendid Video Intelligent Engine" in the blurb of the V1J, although I guess it does have it, but there are so many features that they just didn't have room to mention it. (Bluetooth also isn't mentioned, but the blurb's bottom is cut off. It seems to mention some type of docking support though.)
I also noticed that the F2J lists the inclusion of the "ASUS HDD Protection design", which I'm guessing is their name for the drop detection mechanisms that IBM's and other labtops have. Does anyone know if the V1J has this feature? Talking about the F2J, they are also advertising it has "Internet Fun PLUS software". Seeing that it allows entertainment without the OS, I'm guessing it's some type of uber-Audio DJ. Hopefully, the V1J at least includes Audio DJ. (Crossing my fingers for good speakers.) I'd be interested to see how they plan on allowing internet access without the OS.
A concern I have from the pictures is the positioning of the fingerprint reader. It appears to be between the buttons below the touthpad, where it might get in the way. I guess it might be a personal thing though.
I agree with PROPortable of course, that the V1J should be available in higher resolution. I don't know why ASUS would be so stubborn considering ASUS Global lists the V6J as being available in XGA, SXGA, and SXGA+ resolutions. Hopefully some agreement can be worked out, because I really have my sights set on the V1J, moreso after these recent pictures. I'd probably settle for the lower resolution if I have to though. I don't suppose you could also convince ASUS to include a HD DVD drive like the W1J and Toshiba considering its high-end market and the presence of what looks like a HDMI port? -
wow. i didn't even know of/if these models were coming out. do we have any more info about where/when they're being released? i can't believe this thread is so far down the recentness of replying timeline, good thing i have nothing better to do. lookin at those pics is getting my heart racing tho..
-
i just wet my self!
-
man don't think i will be able to afford this comps at about 2400bux a piece if there 1900 euro. any updates on the timeline?

In case anyones wondering, the ASUS French manual lists the supposed HDMI port in the V1J as a micro-DVI port. Hopefully, they include a micro-DVI to DVI convertor or else it won't be much use. (For reference, the Macbook includes a mini-DVI port, whcih I guess won't be compatible. I don't believe Apple includes the appropriate convertor anyways.)
-
Just to make sure there is such a thing as a micro-dvi to dvi convertor right? or else I'm going for the F3J.
-
So no idea on when these will come out at all? I'm in the market for a 15.4 right now and was thinking about the z96, but I might have to wait...Will these come out before the summer is over?
-
unlikely for v1j methinks.
-
Good stuff...I'd imagine with all of those features, the V1j is going to command a pretty decent price. Let's hope they opt for a high res screen...

First and foremost, you have to consider where the V1j will sit...... between the $1899 V6j and the most likely $2399/2499 W2j. My assumption has been $2099/2199 for this system if we can get the higher resolution screen which Taiwan isn't even talking about at this time.
In regards to the mini-dvi that talk about... it's an HDMI port as seen on the W2j, which can be used with an HDMI cable (although audio isn't transmitted through the port) or the included HDMI to DVI convertor plug that they include. Now, this port is the best thing to include on a laptop, especially ones that are thin and tight for space around the edges because a DVI port is huge compared to even a VGA plug..... but HDMI is almost like a USB size... infact I missed the HDMI on my W2 for what... 3-4 weeks before I reported it? It's a lot easier to use. Plus, at home you just leave the convertor cable attached to your monitor and then plugging it in is that much easier because you're not dealing with a huge, awkward plug. -
Does anyone know if the F3J will be available in the US? Any ROUGH estimates of availablitiy?
-
I have been told that the F3J will not be released in the US. Which I believe is a smart move since the build quality of the F3J (from the pictures) doesn't seem to be as good as the other offerings. Plus I had a post earlier that stated the F3J has already been launched in India, which could be Asus target market for the F3J. Check out the V1J it's much better build quality and specs.
