    Hello,
saw this so i thought i would post it:

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/infoworld/20080103/tc_infoworld/94303

The new laptops (M70S and M50S) will have the following specs:

    - Intel Core2 Duo processor - T7700, 7500, 7300, or 7100

    - ATI 3650 graphics

    - 500GB or 1TB HDD

    - 17-inch widescreen display at either WXGA+ (1,440 by 900 pixels) or WUXGA (1,920 by 1,200 pixels)

    - 15.4-inch widescreen display at either WXGA (1,366 by 768 pixels), WXGA+ or WSXGA+ (1,680 by 1,050 pixels)

this loks like Asus's highest spec laptop yet. More to be revealed at CES

Yeah, that did seem a bit odd. Im guessing it will offer more when it launches. However the Asus laptops in the UK seem to all favour 2GB ram when i was shopping around for mine

WOW. 500GB's is quite a jump from the current largest 320GB 2.5" HD. I bet a 500GB 2.5" drive is going to go for $300 a pop.

Actually, its $400 according to Newegg.

These look to be Barebone models, based on the names. I wonder how the HD3650 performs.....

Well, it has to be as strong as the 8800M GTS, otherwise it will perform like the Mobility 2600XT

    How bout 8700gt :D

ive never even heard about that card, not even a rumor, for it to be a full generation ahead of the hd2600 has to mean there is new tech in it, not to mention the fact that its given an extra 50 points lol, what exactly is ati planning?

    This is the desktop version

But it has DX10.1 and so on is compatible with the new sound system. I hope to see that in the C90S :p Or maybe a mobility 3850

i wonder why it is a completely new laptop range. The V range seem the most powerful apart from the C90.

It appears to me to be a rebirth of the old M line of barebone notebooks.

Interesting! I wonder how these will compare to the Asus desktop replacement laptops released sometime in 2008 based on the C90s(concept) with desktop based X38 chipset coming out under the models: C70(19") and C80(17"). I wonder if the C series will up the hard drive expandability to compete directlly with the M series as an (alternative).

Im pretty sure that graphics card is much like what ATI did when they originally released 2 or 3 cards in the 2XXX series, basically a rebadged 1XXX with one or two tweaks.

The 3XXX series is the new line up from Ati. The desktop counterparts perform really well from the reviews I've seen matt.

I find it odd that Ati took so much longer than nvidia to release their x2000 series than Nvidia, but have their x3 series on the market well before nvidia, it would mean an incredibly short product life cycle for Ati, something isnt right there.

I agree with what Acorn said... why do they always do 1 gb? Anyway, pretty crazy laptop if you ask me.

    1TB in a 15"? Wow.

I'm guessing they will introduce an upgraded model with Nvidia cards, once the 9 series is out.
