Like two times already... s'all good, thanks for wanting to share.

Hey guys, don't be so quick to judge the guy!
If I recall correctly, before, that website showed the W3V priced at $1499, it now shows it at $1299... so if I'm not wrong, there was another $200 reduction in price!!
On the actual form it says valid from May 8 - June 4 -
My bad... that's amazing!!!!! Great find =)
-
Looks like ASUS is finally trying to get rid of their Pentium M/ lower end Core-Duo lines. Time for the new stuff!
-
I'm planning to buy a laptop for pharmacy school this Aug and I'm glad I'm found the W3v - it's good enough for my needs. Would it better for me to wait till then to buy the W3v? I'm really tempted to buy the w3v now with the price drop and the rebates - and I'm not sure when is the next sale will be or if ever - but at the same time I was hoping the w3v would drop some more if I wait it out.
Thanks -

I wouldn't count on it dropping any more than that...and even if it did, you might be very hard pressed to actually find one anywhere in stock. If you're really interested in it/serious about buying one, then grab one while you still can!!! Otherwise, If you can wait till around mid sept. maybe the W3J's will drop in price a bit, (initial spec versions) but nowhere near as low as these W3V's are going for with the rebates.
If I were you, the latest I'd wait is until June 3rd or so, just before these rebates expire...as long as you keep your eye on stock levels at your prefered retailer as well...I'm almost 100% positive that you won't find a better deal than this by then though. Good luck with whatever you decide -
My, my... that V6Va for $1399 looks awfully tempting!! I'm still gonna go for the V6j, though. It'll be $1799 after rebate, but will have the Core Duo + Nvidia 7400. I hope that's worth the extra $400.

x700 > 7400 Go
15" SXGA IPS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 15" SXGA -

x700 gets about 2500 on 3dmark the 7400 gets about 2000 so the x700 is actually alittle better for gaming. and the IPS screen in plane switching on the v6va is far far far better than any screen out on the market that isnt IPS.
-
Thanks for the insight!!
Now, I've gotta find a reseller who still has a V6Va. -
<* homer drooling sound *> -
Hmmm... did you get the X600 or X700? I'm trying to decide if the X700 is worth the extra $200.
-
The X600 is the V6V, I believe... no IPS. You're buying the IPS with the extra $200 too.
(So YEa, I bought the V6Va w/ the X700!) -
Yea, only the V6va (1.86 /w x700) has the IPS screen
-
Just placed my order at C9Tech!! I got the IPS + X700 model. Me now a happy Jack!!
Anyone wanna buy a 6-month old Sager 5720? -
Congratulations!!! You'll love it. It's like, what, four pounds lighter than the Sager?

Yikes sometimes it's not so good to be in Canada. I got a v6va 2 weeks ago, and boy do i feel silly now ..... the price drops i only saw was for a v6v model...
Well actually..since i've never owned a notebook before..i didn't realize what the big deal with ips is. The problem was, because that became my "standard" for a notebok screen...you can image what a walk through futureshop or bestbuy would be like... -

Edit: Nevermind, customer contacted me about issue. -

I found a source with Asus V6Va IPS screens if anyone's interested PM me.
With the rebates, the V6Va is defintely the better buy, no question. You'll love it.
Anyone know how easy it would be to install/transfer a V6Va IPS screen onto a plain old V6V? As most know, I just bought one for a ridiculously low price which got even lower because those new rebates came out just in time...and since I know where to get the IPS screens, I was thinking I'd use some of the saved money to upgrade the screen. Also, would anyone have any ideas what I could do with the "normal" V6V screen I'd be replacing??? It's brand new with zero dead pixels so It'd be such a waste to leave in a box on a shelf. -
Oh, just the barebone screens?
-
Did the rebates just double?
I swear I only saw the original Centrino models, not the Core Duo ones as well?! -
The rebate form says the V6va is now at $1699 before rebate. Anyone know where to find one at that price?
-
CalibratedComa Notebook Evangelist
Yeah, just the barebone screens...It's not really a secret, let me know If you're interested...
Anyone care to answer the second part of my above post??? -
Apparantly there is also a $100/$200 CAD rebate with identical systems, so this just furthers my decision on the V6VA. -

Jack, the way I interpret it on c9tech's website is that the V6Va is now $1595US + you get the $200 mail in rebate ontop of that, so $1395???
It is kinda misleading though. Contact them. The fact that the option still remains on their site must mean they have them instock though.
PS, if it is otherwise, then they shouldn't show you the $1795 crossed out, they should be showing you $1995 crossed out!!! -
Hi, actually only the v6v is $1595... the V6va is +$200 when you configure, so the cost of the V6va before the $200 mail-in rebate is really $1795.

See, there you go, c9tech should really set things up a little better, I never went as far as to configure options at the bottom, so the way the top of the page reads...and the main page, is kinda misleading and unclear. With the price drops and rebates happening all at the same time, It doesn't help to make things even more confusing for consumers trying to figure out their options.
