    A8Js - NVidia GeForce Go7700 512MB
    A8Jp - ATI X1700 256MB with 512MB Hyper Memory
    A8Jn - NVidia GeForce Go7300 128MB with TurboCache (A8Jn)

There may be other...configuration differences...but I'll highlight these ones for you : )

There are also other factors needed to be considered, do you want more garphical power, then you will look more towards the A8jp or A8js.

Also what country do you live in?

    What is your budget?

    The A8jp specs are:
    ASUS A8 Series A8JP-4S029M NoteBook Intel Core 2 Duo T7200(2.00GHz) 14" Wide XGA+ 1GB DDR2 667 120GB 5400rpm DVD Super Multi ATI Mobility Radeon X1700 - Retail

    The A8js specs are:
    Asus A8Js-4S023P with Blue tooth, 14" WXGA+ ( 1400x900 ) Core2Duo T-7200/GeForce 7700 512 MB/1x1GB DDR2 667/100 GB HD/DVDRW/XP Pro/2-year global warranty

Basically the only differences that really matter between those laptops are their GPUs. The A8Jn is has lowest among the three choices. Then the A8Jp comes in the middle with the A8Js coming slightly on top of it. The decision on what laptop you should buy, depends on how demanding your gaming needs are.

Thanks guys. Not extremely demanding in terms of gaming power. I live in Germany but looking to buy one from the UK with English setup (keyboard and OS). Cannot seem to find though the A8JP in any UK online shop... Just the A8JN.

Could anyone suggest a place where they would sell the A8JP in the UK?

    Thanks! Kilgore

you know I always have to say this to someone buying a notebook in the uk

The samsung x60 plus goes for 1900$ usd. Most of us in the us would kill for that machine its a 5 pound 15.4 inch wsxga laptop with x1700 with magnesium chassis.

These asus models we get here are so expensive in europe I dont think they can compete with that.

The g1 costs like 2300 usd in europe. Cross shop that samsung

Kilgore, I've run into the same problem. The a8jp is not being sold in the Netherlands, nor in the UK... And in Germany it's sold with a QWERTZ-keyboard.

However! I found that nutrius.de will replace the keyboard for 45 Euro.
This is a direct link to the a8jp, look for the "Keyboard-Exchange - Umbau auf fremdsprachige Tastatur"-option somewhere near the bottom of the page.

Nodezero, thanks for the tip. I already pinned them an email with some questions. FYI, there is another store selling the a8jp with english setup, but they are about EUR 100 more expensive: http://www.notebook.de/asus-a8j-serie-g-532/

How is the web cam in this model?

Will it compare to the apple macbook pro's? i find that one to be pretty good.

The A8 series uses a 0.3-megapixel camera, while Apple's webcam is in the neighborhood of 1.3mp.

the webcam on the a8-series is not that good. if the light is less than very good, it'll look very bad. I've attached a picture of how it looks in a bright room on a sunny day
