This isn't huge, so don't get excited.

The new V6's that just came in tonight with 512mb x 1 or RAM....... instead of the 256mb x 2 of like they have for the last two months. It's still DDR2 400, but it's one stick. So down the road when you want to upgrade, you can just pop in another stick instead of having to remove one. Asus took the advice from us when they ordered the W3's and did say the next time they had to order V6's from Taiwan they would try to order it the same way.

Anyway, they are back in stock and hopefully this little RAM update gets rid of one of those reasons some of you picked the W3 over the V6.

    Enjoy.

    Thanks,
    Justin

Just curious...Is there anyway to tell which configuration a retailer has/is selling you without opening the box? If not, how long do you think one would have to wait to be sure they get one with the new 1X512MB configuration? [8D]

Well, we were out of stock of them for a week and half....... we just got our stock from the shipment that came to Asus on Tuesday........ So, it's sort of impossible, but... there MAY be a way.

All of the V6's up until last night had their serial number start with 54. The new ones start with 55.

    Thanks,
    Justin

That's a good news (one step at the time [ :)] ). Next, I wonder if Asus would be releasing V6 is other configurations, better CPU, larger hard drive...

Not anytime soon. Asus got it's big shipment for the month, so I wouldn't look for even another shipment until mid-June..... I doubt there would be much if any change even then.
