I was wondering if anyone knew about a upcoming model in the G2SG-A1 line that featured a 7200 RPM drive and was cheaper? I heard this on newegg but I wanted to ask here in case anyone knew.

Also is there a all black version of the G2SG? I love the all black look of the G1S but I really dislike the silver top and bottom panel of the G2SG.

    Thanks.

I'm not sure, but Asus has rarely (if ever) shipped Ensemble systems with 7200 HDD's in the past; has to do with production cost mostly IMO. Perhaps one of the resellers here has new info and can chime in.

The only current version of the G2S chassis is the one that you mention, unless Asus updates the color scheme with the new model (which sometimes happens i.e. the W3 series) but we'll have to wait and see.

Thx for the reply Clear, what do you mean by Ensemble systems? Also the G1S has a 7200 rpm drive right... so wouldnt it make sense to at least put the same drive in this new system even if ur sacrificing space for performance?

OK, going back to look up the specs on the G1/2 series....

The G1S-B2 had a 7200 HDD, but specs for both the G1SN models have a 320GB 5400 hdd.

Specs on the G2S-B2 (old model) had 7200, but specs on the G2SG show 320GB 5400 hdd as well.

Ensemble is Asus' own brand of direct sales notebooks, in contrast to their whitebox units (i.e. C90, Z series etc). If this doesn't make sense to you, it probably doesn't matter - Asus had a bigger presence in the whitebox market for North America several years ago.

Whitebox? What? Are these companys that manufacture Asus notebooks? Also the G1S and G2S are geared for gaming and performance, I don't think the G1SN is as much considering its 9500 gs dd2. Are they just trying to cut costs?
