I recently purchased a Z71v which will be arriving tomorrow. I ordered it Monday night, and was simply wondering if there are any things that I should do before I really dive into the laptop. Should I update drivers, and if so, which ones? Are there any programs that are quite beneficial for laptop's? Any recomendations at all are welcome.

This is my first notebook as I'm a first-year college student. I know a decent bit about desktops but am completely in the dark (more or less) when it comes to notebooks, so if you have any advice for me before I really put it to use, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for the help.

    Congrats on your purchase.

All the drivers and software will be on the CD's provided.

Just add Anti-Virus of your choice and anti-spyware and you are ready to go.

    Thanks for the reply.

I've got basic Norton AV from my school's website, and have tried a plethora of spyware software but nothing seems 100%.

    Any setup recomendations/programs?

Don't use Norton. Get Avast (as previously recommended) and Sygate firewall. Both free and very good.
