The G50VT-X6 has been stuck at 1449.99 after $100 rebate for a couple of days now. Today is the last day of the rebate... let's see where the price goes once the rebate is done.
I'm still considering buying one of these over the G51, even if I can't put a quad in it and if I don't get the better graphics card (which seems to overheat like a mofo)
-
You can't put a C2Q in the G50VT?
-
-
Sucks. They won't want to do a BIOS update either to fix it, even if it was possible.
-
i think that asus should take the x6, replace the 9800 with the new 260m and keep everything the same and sell that. not to mention that 1500 for the x6 is grossly overinflated. all the rest of the vt's have been kicked out.
-
Yes it is. The G51XV-A1 for $1600 is a much better deal. Thankfully for me, I jumped on the X6 when it was on sale for $1150
The only problem with that idea is that apparently the 260m gets really hot and causes throttling for some G51/G71 owners. -
-
the g50vt-x8 is avalaible at newegg canada
-
its available here in the US too, but for some reason its actually not as well-spec'd as the X6. It does come with the Razer laser mouse though and the bag.
-
link to the x8?

at $999.99, it's actually a pretty good deal. unless I missed something, the only different specs are the 1366 resolution instead of 1680, and 2.4Ghz P8600 instead of 2.53Ghz P8700. there could be more under the hood regarding build and component quality, but the advertised specs make this a bargain imo. -
Isn't the X8 the same as the X5?
-
RainMotorsports Formerly ClutchX2
-
no the x5 used some cruddy cpu, it wasn't the p8400, but is had 2.26 ghz
-
RainMotorsports Formerly ClutchX2
X5 used P7450 2.13 and the X1 used the P8400 at 2.26 the X8 is a P8600 version same screen as the X1/X2 with A1,A2,B1,X6,X3 colors. -
Also, the X8 come with a Mouse and Backback (wow big deal!) and this:
X8: Accidental Damage Warranty 1 year ASUS Accidental Damage Warranty - Drops, Fire, Spill, Surge
X6: Accidental Damage Warranty 1 year ASUS Accidental Damage Warranty - Drops, Fire, Spill, Surge for purchase after 9/10/07
Parts 2 years limited
Labor 2 years limited
So the X6 gets 2 more years of warranty?
BTW: The X8 is avalaible at NewEgg Canada -
RainMotorsports Formerly ClutchX2
Unless its changed and i don think it has the X8 gets the standard 2 year international, 1 year accidental, 30 day pixel defect. Newegg is not even close to consistent with entering info into the system. They actually think on some pages that "Kingston HyperX" is the whole name of the company.

On Asus Canada for the G50vt:
2-year limited global hardware warranty
*different by country
1-year battery pack warranty
30days Zero Bright Dot LCD

I can confirm.
My g50vt-x8tw from US newegg just arrived today. I was able to register it for the 2 year parts and labor and the 1 year accidental warranty. Newegg USA just failed to list the whole warranty on their website.
It is a beast. Just got done reformatting it to rid it of the bloat-ware. I am installing the window's updates now and things are going just fine. Very well constructed and the back pack and mouse are a welcome bonus. I will post back here once it is fully up and running and let you guys know how the comp does with games and the such. -
-
Ok so you can get the G50VT-X8 with 2.4Ghz 9800GS or the BB G51 for 999$ with 2.0Ghz GTX260M.
Which one? -
Is there a good chance of the X6 dropping in price by the end of the month?
Figured I'd ask here instead of making a new thread. -
Nevermind, its not a toughie.
-
-
<gasp> They sold out!

You can tell NewEgg is gonna reveal the G51Vx-A1 soon. They're unloading a lot of open box G50vt machines. The G50vt-x6 brand new is still at the jacked up price though.
