    Dear all,

    I am in the process of getting an Asus laptop over here in Singapore/Malaysia, but I'm very confused about the above 3 models. I've originally decided on a M5, until I saw the W5F (Core Duo). Then while researching on W5F, I came across W6F, which is more suitable for me since I do digital photography and a larger screen is always welcomed (I still don't like 14" and above laptops because of the weight). Then I read about W7J and it seems similar to W6F.

    Now I'm totally confused, but the only thing I'm 'unconfused' about is, I'll get an Asus. :)

    Any help will be much appreciated!

    they are the same internally, for the most part.

    ~13" WXGA (if they're all the same as W6), 3x USB, 1394 firewire, PCMCIA slot (maybe express on W7), built-in optical drive, monitor-out, s-video, multicard reader, modem+ethernet... the standard fare.

    the differences are cosmetic.
    W7J has a webcam and magnetic 'latch' and dedicated graphics card (nvidia 7400)
    W6A/F has magnetic latch but no webcam
    Z35F has a normal clip latch, customizable specs

    price wise, i'd guess (in ascending order): Z35F < W6F < W7J

    Well... W7j isn't out yet, so you can scratch that off

    W6f = ensemble
    Z35f = white box

    Do they have whitebox in Asia? i thought only north america had whiteboxes...

    The Z35 and W6 are almost idental systems... as stated above, the W6 is an ensemble which won't be coming to the US and the Z35f will be coming at a custom built-on Asus system in May.

    The W7j will most likely be coming to the states this summer (June/July is my guess) and with it's dedicated graphics, it's going to be a serious contender at that size.... it's basically a mix of the W5f and the W3j and it's fits inbetween both of those models which no one even thought there space to fit anything else....... but there was.

    Pause .... Pause .... Pause...... nobody chiming in?
    I'm hopeful the z35f date is still early May -- I haven't heard anything to the contrary. But I'll be curious to see if there has been any recent news on this one that would update the sticky date. Thanks as always to those in the know.
