    Hey

    Jim from Scotland here
Just bought an N55SL-2019V with the Intel i7-2670QM CPU, 6GB RAM, GeForce 635M GPU, etc
I was concerned it wouldn't match up after running a self build desktop(i7-2600K Sandybridge, 16GB RAM) but it's not bad at all and runs everything I throw at it.

    Now for the issue.
I noticed the fan running quite a lot so I installed a couple of CPU temp monitors to keep an eye on things and found CPU temp running around the 90deg C mark under only 20% load(both monitors show the same)

I bought a Coolermaster notepal cooler and it only drops it by a degree or so
I contacted Asus to see if this is normal and they say RMA it.
Now, if I have to, I will but I don't want to be without my laptop for up to 30 days then have to re-install all the software again, register it, etc, etc.

I had a browse around and read about IE9 causing high CPU usage and heating so I installed Chrome to try out and it seems a bit better
    2-3% load = 58deg C
Running 10 x YouTube windows takes it up to around 40-50% load and 85deg C

TjMax is showing as 100 deg C and I've read of stable operations on these CPU's up to 110deg C

    Anyone else experienced these temps?
I'm used to hammering a CPU on a desktop build and never going above 35 deg with all the cooling available

    Are laptops that different?

    A wee update

It seems IE9(and associated addons) are a known cause of high CPU load(and therefore temps) so

    I've installed Chrome
Found the power scheme was set for high performance so I've changed it to a balanced scheme.

Already there is a big difference.
Idle temps with around 3% CPU load, temp sits at around 47deg C

With multiple browser windows(Chrome) running Youtube vids, CPU load gets to around 40% and temp around 80deg C

This is a LOT lower than I get with IE9 so I'm gonna stick with it and monitor it for a bit.
