    No, DDR2 and DDR3 are not compatible.

    It may be compatible but it'll clock down to the fastest speed your motherboard can do.

    Thanks! I still don't know what to do about my screen :( I found some aftermaket screens on Ebay, but they seem like rejects; listed as 'New (other).' And their policy is that 1-5 dead pixels are acceptable. Makes me worried about buying one of those, only find out that it's got dead pixels...or worse.

    Even new screens will often be sold with up to 5 dead pixels, you'll usually pay a hefty premium for one that's been inspected and guaranteed to have no dead/stuck pixels.
