Something is up with this model. I have ordered it from both eComElectronics and CompuDirect within the last week and a half only to have the first stall on me to the point where I knew they didn't have it in stock and the second to lie to me telling me it was shipped (even providing a fake UPS tracking number) and then later admitting it was never shipped.

I'm not sure if it has been discontinued or what, but I am getting pretty frustrated. I might just decide to hold on until November to purchase. Maybe Asus stopped production in anticipation for a new model? Or maybe the nVidia chipset scandal caused them to freeze production?

It's in low/no stock everywhere there may be supply problems... if it's discontinued I'd be really surprised! There are problems but they are not A2 specific..

U know there is a G50Vt that is on the support site now that I think about it. Maybe that is going to be the new premium model... Pure speculation on my part so don't get all excited and whatnot. I think the G50Vt has the TV tuner bundled..

ALLur I saw that too. Weird though because this model is less than a month old. Below is the response I got from Newegg.

Yeah, my guess is that the supply chain has run dry for one reason or another (read: new model or not). Even when the G50V was launched, it was hard to get an A2 after the first week or two. After I ordered mine they went into backorder at buy.com (although I wouldn't recommend buying from them).

For me it doesn't look as 'out of stock' item - it rather looks as 'recall'

Anyone actually seen or heard anything about the G50Vt.. The A2 didn't interest me, but I'd really like to know what this Vt model is before I purchase my A1. One poster on asus.com mentioned p8400 processor and 9800GT (!) graphics. If this is true, I may consider the Vt.

The G50V A1 is also out of stock.

Does this mean our laptops are going to be outdated by the new model? Kinda stinks!
