I'm not sure what's happened or what I did but I can't get any sound anymore on my laptop. It's not muted, I checked to make sure the Realtek drivers are still default and they are, checked the mixer to make sure nothing was muted and its not. Everything that needs to be enabled is, yet not sound. It even shows in the mixer the presence of sound, but I hear nothing. Tried movies, music, windows sounds, everything, but get nothing. Speakers are fine because it still plays the POST noise with the Asus logo.

IF anyone can help that would be great.

    Thanks

did you recently hook it up to a Tv or something through HDMI? After I did my computer had a hard time realizing the HDMI wasnt connected anymore and it was still trying to push the sound through the cable...I just re-set it to play through the speakers

Called Asus support and he basically had me go in bios, reload 'user defaults' and it worked fine. NO idea why that worked, he didn't know either...he said it was a vista issue, yet it was fixed in BIOS. Oh well it works and im happy so all is good!

Did you disable the start-up sound? At this point it kills sound in windows too.
