Hi,
I'm an alienware 15 r1 owner, as I really like their laptop designs and keyboard they have, the cons compared to the new game laptops releasing are starting to get significant, with the main reason being G-Sync.
I see that asus has shown their new lineup with the GTX 10 series desktop gpus being released for laptops. However I wasn't able to find a laptop with a single GTX 1080 configuration. Perhaps I missed them? or is it simply not planned in their lineup?
I know of the GX800 which is WAAY overkill for me and also too big. But I see the GX752vs but that one only seems to have the GTX 1070 as an option.
Anyone happens to know anything about an asus laptop with a GTX1080?
So far the only once I found are an msi dominator, a clevo and origin pc.

Aorus X7 has it but it is probably too heavy if that is your issue. It seems like the heat makes it so only 17 inches really have it.

There is one, its the G800 - without the 'X':

17 Inch is okay. That is my maximum. But an 18 inch I don't want. And those almost alwas have SLI anyway, which I don't like at all.
Thanks!! Had missed that one, a little unfortunate for me due to the 18 inch size, but will definitely consider that one. Thanks againhmscott likes this. -
After living with 2 different 18.4" SLI/Crossfire laptops, I can assure you that you will miss the 18.4" screen when moving "down" to a 17.3"
I needed to hook up an external 23" or larger monitor to get my happy back
The Asus 18.4" is also a new one, not the same as in the Alienware / MSI GT80/GT83 series. It's supposed to be better.
I actually like / appreciate the 18.4" single GPU option.
The GX800 off the hydro-dock, with only air-cooling and 1 330w power supply, works best as a single 1080 GPU - disable SLI off dock on single PSU. Then the G800 performs as good as the GX800.

Does anyone happen to know if the G800VI has a G-Sync display?
I see it has a 4K 60hz display, but can't find anything about G-Sync. Would be a bummer to see it without. -
The Asus product overview and specification page don't mention G-sync, so it doesn't have it right now... idk if that will change - you could ask Asus.

Just found this link
http://edgeup.asus.com/2016/08/15/which-pascal-gaming-laptop-should-i-buy/
They line up more specs of the new asus pascal laptops. And all of them apparently seem to feature G-sync, which is amazing news.
And with this I think I am sold. -
It's odd that Asus "news site" (note the domain in the URL is .asus.com) says they have G-sync, while the product pages are missing any mention of G-sync.
https://www.asus.com/us/Notebooks/ROG-G800VI/specifications/
And, the notebookcheck review of the G800VI doesn't mention G-sync either...

I would still verify the one you order really does have G-sync

Definitely! After giving that amount of money you want to have everything perfect. Which brings me to it, it's actually a little overpriced. And I wish there was some room for some choice. Like I don't need 64GB of ram, nor 1TB SSD. which adds a couple hundred euros on top of the already expensive price.hmscott likes this.

The G800VI-XB78K is one of Asus's flagship giants, so it's gonna get the royal configuration treatment
It's nice to get it all supported directly from Asus under warranty, that way you don't need to get your own parts and deal with parts warranties should one of the components goes bad.
Pretty awesome, please come back and let us know how you like it

Clevo P775DM2/3
It's going to get you the best bang for buck if you order from HID (EVOC) and buy RAM/SSD/CPU separate. Plus the chipset and CPU is much better compared to the mobile ones. -
Definitely a good choice indeed when it comes to bang for buck, but I have a few issues with that.
First of all the i7 6820HK for example runs at 45Watt TDP, while the i7 6700K you can get in the cleavo runs at 91Watt TDP. That is roughly double the power consumption also meaning more heat, for a 30% CPU power increase, and the 30% is significantly lower at applications/games running only single or double threaded. Also All of the GTX 1080 laptops I've so far have 330Watt Adapters, including the cleao, with the GPU already having a high tdp, you may see some power throttling, not sure but just assuming, as the 1080 is very power hungry. compared to previous M based Geforce GPU's.
Secondly as far as I can tell. A GTX 1080 laptop will not go under 3000€, very likely to be more. When paying that much you want everything on the laptop to be perfect, and subjectively, I think the clevo laptops are damn ugly. But the customizability on the clevo laptops is amazing though.hmscott likes this. -
Buy a 2nd 330 with the ac200
6700K can undervolt a lot at 4ghz, but the HK might struggle getting there
No asus laptop with a single GTX 1080?
