Hi guys. I been following this site for reviews and opinions since I placed my order a month ago.

Let me start by adding that I am from South Africa and was looking to not only find a place to buy myself a much needed i7 laptop but a place to build a long term relationship with.

    Here is what happened:

    1. Placed order on the 16th of January and item on backorder

This is ok as I was well aware that laptop may only come out in Feb.

    2. After 2 weeks I get an update that days I can expect my laptop to ship on the 10th of Feb.

    3. I notice last week that Provantage has N61JQ listed as in stock and notice stock is decreasing. I proceed and send customer support an email asking why they have item in stock but are not shipping?.

Customer service responds by saying that all international orders must be shipped from Ohio. Ok fine thats on Monday.

    4. I phone this evening as order was supposed to have shipped yesterday and get an unexpected reply that the item is on back order again and will be in stock on the 24th. I cancel my order and ask about refund. Lady resonds: You will get a cheque o_O" A cheque? Anyway it is sorted out now but I had cancel my order and would like to contact Justin from XoticPC directly to ask about international orders and some other questions. Are there any other companies that ship internationally? Price is not the issue, I just want to get my laptop without any BS. It's disgusting service to have placed my order on the 16th only to have someone else who put in same order over 2 weeks later get thier item shipped before me.

Thanks I need some reassurance though because I am a bit edgy now thanks to Provantage. I want to be sure that when an item is listed as in stock that I will get same treatment and support and recieve my order on a first come first serve basis. I don't mind being patient but Provantage went from giving me a time, to sending orders to people who placed orders after me to putting me on backorder again. Please pm me if yr from powernotebooks, gentech or xoticpc.

Yo, i'm from Joburg , first time ordering a laptop from the US, I ordered from Xoticpc. They seem to be very informative and responsive. I ordered the Asus G73 from them, but that model is very popular right now and is backordered, so im not expecting delivery anytime soon...

    Hi Yucca.

I'm also not having a good time with Provantage. I post my situation in this thread:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=5878379#post5878379

In short, I also canceled my order and DID ASK THEM SEVERAL TIMES about refunding. All I got from them is "Your order is canceled". Not a single word about refund.

I'm really mad. Can't believe they got pretty good rating.

BTW I've a question. Did they offer other ways to refund you? Like PayPal, Bank Transfer or anything. I can't call them today because it's weekend.

    Thank you in advance.

Hi. I phoned Provantage to clear up information as to my cancellation. Their service is appalling and Ireceived no confimation email even that my order had been cancelled. My payment was via wire transfer and was told that even though I did the wire a month ago, they are still able to refuse the wire several months later, in which case all money will be refunded.

Hi Yucca. Thank you for your reply.

You mean no physical 'check' will be delivered to your house, right? Just an electronic funds transfer back to your bank account?

I wish they also do that on my case...

Hi, NP. My situation was this...
My bank account is in Norway but I am in SA for 8 montha and they told me they would refund by cheque. this would not be viable in my case because I can not process cheque down in SA without bank account here.

Because i did payment via money transfer direct they are able to cancel this even several months later and all money will be transfered back to my bank.

    Hope this helps ... :)

Yes it does help a lot. =)

One final question to clear every doubts in my mind:

By saying "money transfer direct", did you mean Bank Transfer?

    Thanks again!

Yucca, a few things to note.

    A) The NBR forums require users to have minimum of 5 posts to unlock the PM feature. This is to prevent bots from spamming the server, users, and to prevent from attacks to crash the servers.

    B) Generally its up to the customer to contact the resellers, they, like others, have other things to do and work to do that sit in a forum and read through every single thread to see when a customer wants them to contact them. Your best bet, is to visit each individual resellers website and find there 800 phone number and call them and speak to them via phone. This will give you also a sense of the person on the other end and let you know how well they want/do take care of there customers.

My humble apologies. I probably came across as someone who doesn't want to put in the effort of contacting sellers in person. I have already contacted xoticpc.

Many thanks for the help and great site :)
