i dont know wat happen. one day wen i try turning on the laptop. It when to the log in screen like normal. after i type in password it loads but i waited for so long but still no respons. it made no sound, the hard drive light never light up.
THe mouse icon will indicate loading with Welcome beside it but t nothing happens. I have to hole the power down to off and than turn laptop on again to solve this problem. I had experience this afew times alrdy n still havin same problem.
Another time is when the laptop was on. i press FIN+F7 to turn the LCD screen off and left it for 30 mins, when i return it wont repson at all. but the Hard drive light was light up but this time, the num lock light was off. I had to press and hold power button to switch off and turn back on.
I had tired asking the tech ppl from asus and thy recon its the software problem n told me to reinstall. but b4 i go ahead with it i wanna ask ppl from here.
Can you help?
I have using Asus M50SV, vista 32bits ultimate. core 2 duo tp300, 4GB ram, 300GB HD, Geforce 9500 GS.

Yep, seem like windows problem, also keeping window up to date minimize these type of problems.

ok. it happen again. just making if its software problem b4 i format n reinstall install windows.
was surfin the net. firt my window media stop playin. than a few sec later windows explorer, than few sec later firefox than msn. no respons from any. the hard disk loadin light is off.
so do u still think its software problem. -
Can't be sure, but it doesn't hurt to try reinstalling Windows before you go the (more time-expensive) way of the RMA.

My question:
How long have you been using your M50? If you have been using it for 3 months or more with no Virus cleaner and Spyware protection (or unupdated version), you may have a virus in your system causing the problem.
So I also go with EBE's suggestion. Backup your files, and do a windows recovery with the F11 key. If you don't have any backup devices, buy one. Or if you want a cheaper and semi risky solution. The M50 normally is shipped with the hdd in two partitions. Backup your files to the second partition normally the d: drive (the drive without windows).
Restart your PC, press the F11 key, then recover windows to the 'FIRST PARTITION' ONLY. Then you should have a working system. If not, then you must have a hardware problem. -
Are you sure it's F11? On earlier models it was F9.
