So Best Buy exchanged my G51 for a shiny new G60. I went to install the second hard drive I had in my G51, but there seemed to be a RAM stick there.

Is there no second hard drive bay in the BB G60 model?

No there isn't. As you have found out for yourself, Asus have used that area for more RAM.

    Well...

    that's dumb.

Meh. Looks like it's time to invest in another hard drive case.

I can deal. I already have an external enclosure for my old 160GB hard disk. I'll just buy a new one for my 500GB. I kept all of my media separated anyway. At least this way I'll be able to move movies and the like more easily between computers.

Only the G60j has 2 ea. 500 gig 7200 rpm drives. The motherboard is PM55 with additional features, while other models are HM55 mb's and single HD.s.
