The sound plays through the laptop, but not through the TV like I need it to.

I had to use ForceDisableJD and et the value to FF because my headphone jack is broken; ForceDisableJD>FF causes the headphone jack and speakers to work simultaneously.

    Any ideas?

Well, I dont know anything about the forcedisable but when i went to bb today it had the option. When you have the hdmi plugged in you should see hdmi under playback devices. It could be on a setting your tv does not support. Change the Hz or turn it to 5.1 and disable dts and see what happens.

Hertz just changes the refresh rate, I'll try the other two things though.

Tried the hertz thing. no dice.

The TV doesn't have an option for DTS or 5.1. It's a 42" Samsung LCD with 120Hz.

Did you try changing the sound/speaker default to go to HDMI out option? You hit the Speaker icon in the icon tray to access.

that (when the picture is on the tv).

and when you use the fn->hdmi combo (like the g50's, maybe the same on the g51 -- when the picture is on the tv), check if nVidia HDMI Audio is in the device manager.
if it needs a driver, download the latest (186.03?) notebook drivers from lv2g or nvidia.com, extract with 7zip (or equivalent), and they should have the hdmi audio drivers in a folder.

Changed ForceDisableJD to 01, restarted, unplugged HMDI cable and plugged it back in.

    Worked.
