I apologize in advance if there's already a thread for this, but there wasn't an Advanced Serch option.

Lately, I've been dealing with an annoying occurrence with my ASUS N61J notebook. It doesn't do it every single time I start it up, but the noise of the fan is starting to annoy me. I've tried taking out the battery and using only the power, but that didn't work. I even tried buying a laptop cooler, but that didn't work either! It's now gone from annoying to getting really pissed off! My mum reckons there's something stuck in the fan, but I don't think so.

Is there a way to stop this, and is this a sign that my laptop is about to die? I REALLY hope not, because I'm going on holidays to Melbourne in almost a week, and I want to take my ASUS laptop with me.

How long have you owned and used the laptop? It could be that the fan and vent needs cleaned. Or if it's being obstructed by something else, make sure to move it so that there is room for airflow and heat dissipation.

Also, is the fan making noise when the laptop is under heavy load? Or on for a long period of time? Or is it seemingly random?
