Hi there, just wondering what Asus machines are capable of when it is booted using the "media buttons" i.e. not into the operating system, specifically can the machine playback dvds in this state and also is the battery life significantly improved? My suspicion is that it won't play dvds, but will it only play standard audio cds or will it cope with cd-rw's for example, and how about mp3 discs?
Cheers.

no -- that's why their buttons are called "audio dj" ... it'll read any cd.... burnt or bought.

It's just music. As for saving battery life... Although it doesnt take much to play music, all the "powersaving" untilities are within Windows. The instant on feature was just for a speedy start to play your music without having to boot up completely. So if you just woke up, you roll over & instantly turn on your Teletubies Greatest Hits, you'll be dancing around and then getting dressed in no time. If you waited for Windows to boot up, you might've drifted off back to sleep.

LOL teletubbies would make me break the notebook and potentially embark on a small scale killing spree
Non-operating system abilities...
