OKay so heres a bit of a dissapointment.. I just installed Ghost Recon: Advanced War Fighter and this game is supposed to be the resource hog of all games cuz it needs to render out full cities. Now I thought I would be able to play this with the W3J but apparantly it is not the case.

Everytime.. about 5 minutes into the game, it crashes completely and I get an error about how Direct3D could not allocate enough memory for the game or something..

so.. choices that remain is to upgade the RAM right?

And if I have to.. whould you guys recommend OCZ or Corsair RAM? DDR2 667mz right?

How much ram do you have? Is virtual memory on? If you have a gig it should play fine.....

yea I have the 1 gig ram that came with the notebook.. im not sure how to check n see if virtual memory is on or not so im just gonna say no..

and i thougt it would play fine too but i guess not :(

actually I checked task manager this time to see how much RAM the game was actually using.. it was at about 400 mb and i had another 300 left over/not being used... what the hell is going on!?

Did you have anything running in the background? maybe try black vipers process list if ur desperate i freed up about 100 ram.

    For Virtual Memory try
    1. right click my computer
    2.properties
    3.advanced
    4.performance
    5. advanced

    Minimum specs required to run:
2 GHz Pentium® IV or the equivalent
    1Gb RAM
5 GB of hard drive space
    NVIDIA® GeForce™ 6/7 or ATI® Radeon® 9600-9800/X

it looks pretty demanding so id shut down as much as possible in the background. minimum seems to be 1 gb free, but maybe up ur virtual memory (which i know nothing about)

Are you using hyper memory for your X1600? 256 + 256RAM. If so, this could be the problem...

does hypermemory give problems ?so it is beter to game without it ?or what are you saying ?

or do you mean that if the game needs 1 gig and you use HM than only something like 750 mb ram will be left .

I put 2 one gig sticks in my w3j, helped out in bf2.

I purchased Gskill, and it works like it should...of course nothing wrong with Corsair, or OCZ.

What drivers are you using? I would recommend using catalyst 6.6

just for future reference, is the empty slot easy to get at, just the hatch on the bottom? or do you have to open it all up?

you have to unscrew aobut 8 or 9 screws and it took me a while to realize how to get it in there (gotta do it one side at a time, can't just do it like normal PC's) but it was rather easy to do
